I have searched the internet and this form with no real luck. I have an 84 silverado with a 305 4 bbl. I got rid of all my emision stuff. all i have now is a pcv valve, egr valve and distributor advance. Now from what i have found so far is the pcv hooks into one of the big vacume ports on the front of the carb. is this right? and the egr valve hooks into the thermastat port thats on the right side of the thermastat housing and from there i have no idea ??? also the dist advance hooks into any small vacume port on the carb? thanks marc

If you have a vacuum gauge, find a vacuum nipple that has full vacuum at idle. This would be manifold vacuum and is what you want hooked to your dist advance. The port mine is hooked to is toward the top driver side of the carb. The nipple is kinda offset toward the driver fender. I cannot find a picture, maybe somebody else can. The EGR vacuum line should be routed to the vacuum line on ported vacuum "tree" on the front of the block like you said. I'm sure there's a descriptive illustration somebody has that might help further.

You are right that the PCV valve hooks to one of the big ports at the base of the carb.
I think if you got rid of all your emissions stuff, you don't need to hook the ERG valve to anything. I pulled all the emissions off of my 79 before I rebuilt it and drove it with the EGR disconnected for a few months without any problems. If you hook the EGR to vacunm?? (Vile is the only one here who can spell it correctly) it will be engaged all the time. You don't want that.
You can hook your dist. advance to the carb and it will work, but they work better hooked to intake manifold.

how's this: VACUUM ?
Maybe this will help, maybe not. All the 79 vacuum lines when i pulled my 350 out.
Your truck should have a silver emissions sticker near the radiator or cleaner where the lines should go.

i acually remeber looking at those pics lol and i cant follow the silver sitcker on the rad support because its missing. now if i do get rid of my egr valve what are the pros and cons? and i also remeber reading that if u get rid of your egr u will have to time your motor diffrent? is this true

My 79 still has the silver sticker but I can't figure out how to post a photo. ??? After I removed my emmissions stuff and disconnected my EGR valve I didn't change my timimg with no problems. Timing should be at 8 degrees BTDC.

save the photo in photobucket.com, copy the direct link for the picture, and use the icon that looks like a picture next to the "you tube" icon. paste the link and all done.
