Title: Knocking, Popping Sound
Post by: TxFiddler on June 02, 2010, 05:07:13 pm
In my 1980 C10 looooooonnnnnggg bed 2wd, I am hearing some strange noises when driving.  I know it's 30 yrs old and all but I need to see if anyone else has the same experiences.  Between 45-55 mph, there is a bumping sound right underneath the driver's side floor board.  I suspect the speedo cable but not real sure.  At slow speeds, like in parking lots and such, there is a metal popping noise that seems to come from under the cab.  Sometimes, after I get out, the frame or something underneath will pop after a few seconds.  Could new cab mount bushings correct this?  Just checking to see if anyone else has the same problems.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Check your body bushings and possibly check your exhaust system.
