I have a problem with my 81 2wd c10 chevy it has a 305 and th 350 tranny. Recently my bro and me put on an edlebrock intake and carb, once we were done we took it out for that sweet first ride and it makes alot of power but now there is something jingling around in the frontend. To be honest it sounds like dropping a wrench on cement repeatedly. So i jacked up the front and checked everything and still cant find anything. I understand that figuring out what a strange noise could be is somewhat difficult and basically a stab in the dark but Its bothering the heck outta me so does anyone have any idea what this strange noise could be??

Are you missing any tools? ;D Make sure everything that spins is tight, nothing could be swinging in the path of the fan, and that the shroud is secured. I have been trying to track down a clicking sound myself.
-
No i have all my tools lol, and i checked everything its all secure
-
Do you have your ac compressor still? My 81 had a similar sound, and it was the clutch on the ac compressor. Also check to make sure the outter ring on the balancer hasnt come loose. Ive had it do it too.
-
does the jingle increase with rpms? Does it happen when you run over bumps in the road? Did you jack up the front end and check play on suspension parts and wheel bearings? In other words, is there a pattern when you hear it?
Check your flexplate for damage, ring gear, starter, waterpump etc.
-
no i took the ac out it didnt work and its only when i hit bumps. Yes i checked all the suspension that was my first guess.

There is a tool, bracket, or bolt that is bouncing around somewhere or you forgot to hook something back up or something moved because of the swap and it is hitting something else.
Take off the hood and have someone sit in the fenderwell and drive down the road. Ok dont do that, but unless you guys did something else and forgot to tell us or dont think its important, a carb and intake swap shouldnt cause a jingle without something being loose or tools left in the truck.

If you installed a tin can fuel filter with that edelbrock carb make sure it isn't bouncing against the valve cover or something.
-
Try to rock the truck when its parked to see if there is a sound then if there is pin point it
-
its not the fuel filter and everything is hooked back up i double checked everything today however the vacuum line that runs to the tranny got a lil bent could it be hitting the firewall maybe?

I don't think that would be it, it wouldn't make too much sound. But, to rule it out, take some duct tape and tape a rag between the metal line the firewall.
-
k will do but also i'm gonna triple check all my suspension and intake/carb
-
Unrelated to your swap, but a broken end link on a sway bar can make a similar noise.
-
Rock the truck baby
-
I rock the truck but it wont make the noise, it only happens when im driving
-
how did you check the suspension before?
-
Make sure your e-brake cable isn't knocking against your exhaust, and check your hangers/connections. Check that your fan isn't hitting the shroud when you hit bumps, and check the rubber mounts that secure your radiator from bouncing around.

bought new shocks for the front, cuz i needed new ones anyway and that solved the problem works for me!!
-
Glad you got it figured out.
-
Did you inspect the shocks after you took them off to see if a seal was bad or maybe the bolts were loose?
-
seals were trashed in them
-
Ya that might do it.

Sounds like you're describing pinging to me.
