Hello guys,
I've been haunting for a good, decent, bare 4x4 short bed frame from a 1977 to 1987 1/2 or 3/4 ton chevy pickup, but only found rust buckets that would have needed heavy repair work, which is exactly why I want to get a new frame for my truck.
I've been through Ebay, local classified ads and junkyards, but all I found were really damaged frame with rusted through crossmembers and frame rails. I could flake the rust by hand just like dirt... :o
Anyone where I could possibly find a good decent one which would only have light surface rust? I live in eastern Canada, near Maine, and would drive a few hundred miles to trailer one back home.
Any junkyards in mind that would have one? I could get a 2X4 quite easily but really need a 4X4 frame....
Any idea?

SW US. California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico...
Or keep searching every junk yard in your area until you find one that is decent and fix it. Strip it and get it powder coated.

I am here in Tampa Bay Florida and the people around here scrape them all day long, lots of good rust free frames around here, even easier is to just buy a junk truck for $100-$200 and then you have rust free parts to go with the frame. Lots of nice stuff out West to!

I've yet to see a 3/4 ton 77-87 4x4 frame.

I haven't seen any 3/4 ton short bed frames, but I might have a 77 1/2 ton in 2 weeks after I get back from vacation. When I get back I am picking up a 77 1/2 4x4 truck minus engine and most of the interior for a parts truck. I live in California, so not sure if you want to truck it all the way home, but it is rust free.
Let me know if interested and I can give you info on my contact stuff. Tom

I dont think SWB made 3/4 ton. But there is not alot of difference between LWB 1/2 and LWB 3/4 ton frames.

Thanks for the info guys,
It breaks my heart to know that survivor in great condition are scrapped in florida....In Montreal all that's left are rust buckets that are not reallly salvageable, unless you're willing to spend a fortune in resto....
Bake74, if you can give me more details and send pics, I'd appreciate it. I mght be interested if I can have it truck freight to the east coast at an affordable price.
Sorry for the delay to reply, I was on vacation.
Thanks,
Steve

gmcsierragrande, the frame is from a 77 1/2 ton 4 x 4, it had a 350/350 auto in it. I can take pics in a couple of days, it is sitting in a storage yard not at my house. I will crawl under the truck in a couple of days and take pics. You can email me and exchange info and talk about details. My email is jeepnbaker4@yahoo.com

Ok, I finally had time to go and look at the frame. It is rust free, but I did not end up getting the truck. I believe he wants $150.00 for the frame. I think it's a little high, but if you have no other choice for a frame ? If you are interested I can go back with my camera and take some detail photo's for you, but only if you are interested. Let me know.
