Testing for picture? This is my project 82 shortwide. I want to bring it back to a stock appearance on the outside. I have a 395 horse 355 being built for it. It will be a nice little truck someday. I will post more pics soon. I have the old 305 pulled out of it now waiting on the new 355 to arrive.Could someone tell me the easy way to post pics on here?

The picture came through finally. I am going to try to get the truck back on the road this summer then start thinking about painting it. This is the crate engine I'm putting in it soon. I like the classic look with side molding and chrome trim. I might lower it 2.5"& 4" maybe a cowl hood haven't decided yet. But I will repaint to the original colors and even the orange pin stripe. I think it will be sweet with that engine screaming down the road looking basically stock. let me know what you think....

Here are somemore pics of what I have done so fare. I am ready to put the motor in if I had it yet! TH350 trans is rebuilt with  shift kit and ready to go! I bought a JEGS 2300-2700 stall for it last week its in the box next to trans. I want to drive it for awhile then start other projects like paint and interior. It will need different gear ratio in the rear soon. I will try to break it so I can get them. lol

you will have to be running a good limited slip with slicks and removed all weak spots in front of the pinion and drag it constantly before you break the rearend.

My brothers street strip truck has went through 4 trans (just got a 4L80E) and the rearend is still going strong after 7 years of abuse.

This is it at the track...

I did not know that a stock 82 chevy 10 bolt was so bullet proof! Thanks, I hope it lasts forever then I will just have to have 3.73s put in it and cruise........ It also leaks out the pinion will have to adress that later also.

My experience with the 10 bolt is that if you stay away from big tires (on a 4x4) and slicks than they can hold up well.
I've had several camaros with 4 speeds that took a heck of a beating and the 10 bolts held up fine. Add to that a nova and a few 2 w.d. trucks and I've had great luck.
My only problem child was my 88 Jimmy with a 4" lift and 33"s on it. I had a thing for doing donuts in it and it used to thank me by destroying the spider gears in the 10 bolt.

Got it dropped in tonight! But I am having technical difficulties with the motor mounts though. I have those energy supension mounts that fit into the original clam style mounts. I can not get them lined up were I can get the long bolt through! Is there a trick to them? I think I may have to pull it back out and loosen the mounts to line them up! That will stink!!!! Maybe a smaller bolt would go through? Any ideas........

Alt brackets look similar to mine. Did you get them on ebay? I didnt have a problem with mine. How much does it hit? Can you shave the bracket to clear the pully?

The bracket is made by March bought it from Jegs. Pulleys are of Ebay but from a good reputable guy Whiteperformance...... I guess I could shave the alt bracket but it will be quite a bite off there!? Dont want to skrew the crome up either!

hate to mention this but in that 2nd pic the one from straight on the ps looks like it sits higher then the driver's side the whole motor. As for it hitting where exactly does it hit the lower bracket? is it the bolts or the area behind the bolts? I wouldn't worry too much if you had to trim it kinda hard to see it but I don't blame ya if I buy chrome I want it to stay chrome lol.

As for the crank, yea gotta take the bolt out, it colts the pulley on and so does the 3 smaller bolts.

You may want to straight edge them to see if the belt lines up, because they make water pump pulley shims.

I think its just the picture its pretty straight with my eye! I think I will just modify the alt bracket?!

It could be, and hope so. As for the bracket, don't know man I aint there to see what's going on but you gotta do what ya gotta do.

Your luck seems like mine, you get close to getting things done and it does nothing but fight you. I like to look at it this way...

if it's worth having it's worth fighting for or over, so hopefully all the trouble you have will be well worth it in the end.
