Anyone running these headers. Do you like em? How does the coating hold up? Do the fit well? I am thinking about getting them so let me know....
-
I have them and the fit is well and they seem to seal up great.Have not had them long enough to tell you how the coating holds up but never seen a set at car shows or cruise nights that look bad
-
Do the ball and socket collectors reduce from 3" to 2 1/2"? I want to run 3" all the way out....
-
Why do you want 3"? What is your engine setup?
-
This is the set up! It is a .480 lift cam .288 duration, edelbrock air gap intake, 750 edelbrock carb....
-
Ordered the Headmans today hope they work out........ 8)
-
3" all the way back is overkill for that motor and spec.
You'd see better performance with 2 1/2" exhaust

Is this the consensus because I am geting ready to order mufflers soon???
-
I wouldn't run 3" on there, 2.5 should be fine.
-
I agree. I dont see a need for 3" unless its a modified BBC. Or you are running single exhaust.
-
2 1/2 it is then! Im going with Hooker Area Chambers in 2 1/2" center in and center out............ still dumped at the rear axle!

Headers showed up today..............there sweet looking!!!

Headers showed up today..............there sweet looking!!!
I have an 87 SWB that is TBI. I have a 383 stroker I'm ploping in and taking out the computer. I have a couple questions on the swap.
I would like to know how these fit? I have the summit headers and they didnt work, they block plugs #3&4 and also hit the starter. I guess that's the price I pay for going with the cheaper headers. ???

I will find out soon and let you know! My engine will be here tomorrow and I hope to have it in the truck next week sometime!

They seem to fit good! Plugs will be tight but OK!

i aint never heard of that before maybe hitting the starter it crossmember but never hitting the plugs i would get a hold of summit and talk to them its not gm changed were they put the plugs at. but you do see them with dents
(http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r210/cowgirl4christ1106_2007/ght004.jpg) to get things working right. and about hitting the starter you could always bend it

I noticed in this picture that someone beat a dimple in the header for the #3 plug, I guess it is a problem however I didnt want to beat a new set of ceramic coated headers.
I have sent the headers back to summit and purchased the edelbrock shorty headers with the A.I.R. tubes which is direct replacement using my exhaust. I figured the money I save by not doing a new exhaust system is about the differance in price and less of a hassle.
Thanks for the response.

Dane, pic didnt show up.

Ya I think the pic was to big? Seeing if these work! Its close but I think there ok! Had to use a wrench to tighten it though!?
-
Even on myine #4 and 6 are a p.I.t.a.
-
Easy install! Took me and a buddy about 45 minutes and they were on there!
