Title: TH350 to SM465 swap
Post by: 79chevyK10 on June 22, 2010, 09:43:14 pm
I have a 1979 Chevy K10 4wd, 350 V8, 350 auto, NP 208, and I want to swap it to a SM465/205 setup.  Ive read around on here but can only gather bits of information on the swap.  Im wondering if anyone could let me know what I need to get to do a complete swap, and what I might need to look out for during the swap.  Thanks in advance.

If you have a donor it is the easiest solution.  Get everything that is directly and indirectly bolted to the transmission.

+1  You will need the pedal assembly and the bracket that bolts to the frame for clutch linkage also. I am in the middle of swapping out my sm465/np208 for a 700r4/np208. I can post some pics and show you what came out of the truck when it's finished.

Grim82, post it in a separate topic titled appropriately and I will move it to the tech section.  Just let me know where you get it up.  If you email me the pics (or attach ) we don't have to worry about linked pics.

Yeah pictures would help a lot.  And I guess the crossmember could be a problem too?

As for a donor truck, I might be buying a 78 1/2 ton for parts from a guy I know.  He says its a 350 with a manual, and he was just going to scrap it anyways.
