Title: Bed question
Post by: bigfosty on June 26, 2010, 04:30:45 am
I always assumed that the beds of our pickups were welded together, but some pics I see of beds being taken apart make it appear that the sides and wheel wells our just bolted together. Which is it? I have a 1975 K-10 that needs one side replaced. Obviously I'd like to just find a comlete bed to replace mine, but I also live on the coast and thats asking alot.

Both! The majority of it is bolted together. In the rear corners where the upright "box" (where the tailgate bolts on) attaches to the floor & rear sill the are welded (usually four areas per side) these are easily removed to replace the side...it is replaced as an inner & outer together, not just the skin like many other truck beds.
