Title: what size bolts
Post by: markdilljr on June 30, 2010, 07:45:27 pm
What size bolts do I need if I am removing 2 leafs out of my rear springs, I have read that I need shorter bolts for where the springs sit on the saddle, I am picking up a used pair of leafs and am going to remove 2 leafs but there are no parts stores near where I am picking them up at or where I am working on it at, so I need to get the bolts before I head over that way. I am doing it in the mornin so any help would be great thank you

Are you talking about U-bolts? Re-use them as long as they don't interfere with anything and you have enough take-up on the threads to tighten them down.

No the bolt that goes through the springs to hold them together and aligns the spring with the saddle

5/16 fine thread mostly, just round the hex off small enough to fit the saddle hole if you have to replace
