Title: New to the site
Post by: project87gmc on July 05, 2010, 11:59:54 pm
Hey everybody, just thought I would post my build. It will be a slow process due to income. 87 GMC SWB. I bought the truck from a buddy of mine for 600 bucks with a shot 305/350 set up in it. I dropped in a crate 350, and had the tranny rebuilt. I used it for a daily driver for about 8 months or so and decided to start the next stage of this thing even though its gonna take forever, lol. The plan for the build is 454 motor, over drive tranny, air ride, 22" wheels (staggered), Custom dash and center console, etc etc. well I got a link to pics of the truck so far feel free to check it out and comment away. Thanks guys/gals.....

You bought that for $600? I would have paid way more than that, blown engine and all!

Dumb question, anyone know how to get the wiper arms off? Looks like I need a special tool.

Dunno about your year, but my 79 just needs a screwdriver to push up on the little lever that is on the underside. If yours is similar, make sure you tape up the tip so you dont scratch the paint.

Just a regular copper/brass two core, fans are stock 04 accord fans. I worked for O'reilly auto parts and we had it in the back and it almost fit perfect just had to trim it on the sides a bit.

Anybody know if the dash in the 68-72 trucks is welded in? I need to find one.

Has anyone on here ever try to flatten out the seat pan area? It looks like the only reason why the humps are there is for gas tank clearance? I want to try and make more room for my large frame behind the wheel (6'3" 330lbs, lol").

also I have been searching for a while for the blazer tank, all the sites show the 31 gallon tank. I will be running fuel injection so I would like a baffled tank. Am I stuck with a 31 or is there a smaller baffled option? If so what year? I did a search here but didn't see specific year, etc. Thanks

25 gallon EFI tanks are availible.
If the side tanks are gone there is not reason for the floor hump but never replaced one as you will still need to raise the seat if you make it flat...

Not gonna go completely flat just down to the height of the lower hump (if you know what I mean). On the 25 gallon tank you know a year they used it in?

Welcome from Maryland. Great looking truck. Did you use the fan relay from the donor or did you hook up toggles to it?

wired my own relays and used an adjustable temp control by hayden. Works well haven't had one problem.
