Title: 79 Silverado - original diesel truck
Post by: Gandalf1969 on July 07, 2010, 08:17:48 pm
Looking at a few C10's - found a SWB 2WD Fleetside w/gas 350.  Title says "D" under fuel type.  Seller says no SMOG when changing title.  Assuming this was originally a diesel from the factory, what other things can I look for?  Did it have different suspension or rear options?  I notice a hydroboost that looks like it has been on there forever.  How can I tell for sure it used to be a diesel?

Thanks guys,
G.

Look at the filler neck opening. If it was diesel it wont have the little flapper thingamajig! The hydroboost on a 1/2 ton is a good indication it was diesel as well.

Look on the dash for the wait to start/water in fuel lights.

Yes it was originally a 350 Diesel. As far as options go loook at the RPO codes in the glove box.
