So I decided to tackle the project of changing out the valve cover gaskets on my wife's '87 Silverado today, and while searching the 'Net for any good info/tips, I stumbled upon the site. So I joined up, and now will probably get totally engulfed in this site as much as I do on the VTX site for my Honda VTX. ;D
I'm fairly handy with doing small stuff on vehicles, but I have huge aspirations of pimpin' her ride out somewhere down the road. Right now it's all original (except for a new stereo headunit). We keep going back and forth on whether we should trick this thing out or leave it in its original form. :-\
Anyway, I'll just drool over some of the rides on here in the meantime. 8) Here's my wife's baby!

Leave it original! That truck is a bute! I would find something else to trick out if it was me. I am going to try to get mine back to that kind of shape. Welcome, that is my dream truck post more pics!!!

-
Sharp looking! Keep it stock.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. What I'd really like to do is make it a sleeper, but you can only do so much before you cross the line and make it a full-blown custom.
She really wants to start with the engine. I would welcome any input from y'all on how I can boost the performance without getting too crazy with the bank! ;D

Carb, intake, cam, headers, exhaust, maybe later, heads.

It's fuel injected. ;)
I know about all those pieces, but I was more interested in where I can find good deals on these without getting raked. Should I start with headers and exhaust?
-
Welcome, that's a beautiful machine. Headers and a good exhaust are a good start, but if you really want to make a sleeper you will have to do what beastie said; cam, intake & heads. I wouldn't change a thing on the exterior, but go nuts under the hood.
-
You can still put a carb on it... ;D
Really cant beat Summit or Jegs. Craigslist or Ebay too.
-
Yes, the sleeper look! That is what I am going for also. Try your local parts stores sometimes they can get things cheeper than you would think!
-
What is your end goal? You can mod the truck with the TBI, but it takes more planning and you are going to be really limited with the stock computer chip.

That truck is one SWEET survivor! I'd go with the engine bolt ons, exhuast, maybe a set of wheels, lower it slightly, jammin stereo
BUT DEFINETLY NO CUTTING OR HACKING!!!!!!!!
-
That is one beautiful truck. Welcome from Texas. Definately leave the exterior alone. Got any pictures of the bike?
-

That's a really nice truck! I would mess with the cosmetic appearance at all. It's about perfect how it sits right now! :)
