I know this is for my 94 4x2 1/2ton with a 4.3 but might help some of you out. A while back I checked my mpgs it was about 16-17 well last week after diving it almost crazy about 65mph and racing some cars lol I checked it again it was 15. I was shocked so after that I keep the speed to or below 60. Checked it only driving it about 100 miles and it only took 5 gal. That's a increase of 1/3 just by changing my driving habits

Yeh, lowering speed is one of the easiest and most effective ways to save fuel, but it's not always practical for longer trips. But for shorter stuff---i.e., going to work etc. the time difference is not going to be that much so it's a good move.
Just not as fun.

On top gear they took a Prius and m3 and the m3 chased the prius around the track the prius got like 18mpg and the m3 got 19

That's because a Prius's battery works off the friction on the brakes if I remember right. That is still funny that the m3 destroyed it and got similar MPG.

The reason the Prius got horrible gas mileage is because it was operating at a speed where the gas engine was on. A prius is only worth it if you drive it at city speeds, not freeway speeds.
