I have decided that I want to refinish my ralleys on my 82. What works best powder coat? Looking to spend as little $ as possible. Can I see pics of some of yours and what you did to them....

Powder coating runs around 200$ for a set of four here. Paint for it, I would imagine couldnt run you more than 50$ if you did it yourself. I have painted a set of ralleys before and it did stick well though, I got my impala SS wheels being powdercoated anyways because a relative does it as a side business and helped me out. I have always had good luck with painting wheels though as far as it staying on there.

Hey Fellow Okie, I've painted alot of Rallye wheels. There are 2 types of spray paint that I've found work well. Duplicolor Steel Wheels and the color is Steel Wheels, the other is made by Plasti-Kote and is Dull Aluminum. I use black engine enamel on the backsides. I sometimes strip the center caps under the old gray they are all chrome.

I did my rallye wheels in black and I used the duplicolor high heat engine paint about 3 or 4 years ago and they still clean up decent. They make that paint in aluminum silver, but I think you're better off going with what rwhit57 said if you want the classic look.

Here's how I painted mine on my 87. The outer part of the wheel is done in black so brake dust isnt a problem. also painted the center cap base black.

I have read some good things about Eastwood's Paint. Here's a link http://www.eastwood.com/ew-rally-wheel-paint-silver-aerosol-12-oz.html. This is what I will use when I redo mine. Has anyone else used this before? If so, any comments?
