what is the best year of 12 bolt rear to put in my 84 c10?

I wouldn’t worry about year just what ratio you want for what you want to do with it

Any similar year model with leaf springs. The older 12b's with the swing arms and coil springs will not have the proper brackets for your leafs. Aside from that, like said above, it's all about gear ratio.

not worried about the pads or gears. truck is 4 linked. new gears will be ordered. sounds like i should put a nine inch in it...

If it has a 10bolt in it now, why change, you aren't gaining anything out of going to a 12bolt.
