Title: big block carb
Post by: 85k25 on July 14, 2010, 10:50:15 am
I'm trying to decide on a carb for my 454.  It will be in an 85 3/4ton which is mainly used for a daily driver with occasional tow/haul use.  The motor will be stock compression, stock heads, edelbrock performer intake, headers, and a 800 to 4800rpm tow cam.  I currently have an edelbrock performer 600cfm carb.  Will this be enough carb for me or do i need to step up to a 750?  Thanks in advance.

If you don't plan to be racing with it what you have will work.  at 100% VE (impossible) a 454 turning 5000rpms needs 650cfm.  At 83% VE (realistic) it needs 545cfm
