Anyone ever use these energy suspension motor mounts? They are suppose to fit ur stock clam shell mounts. I put them in my original mounts and now they wont line up! I can get the long bolt thru either side no matter what I do. I don't want to take everything back apart unless I have to! Any ideas? Should I just go with a stock mount and see if they line up? By the way truck was a 305 and I am putting a 355 back in it, but that shouldn't matter right....

Use stock mounts, you'll have no problems with them.

no it's the same, I think they have tall and short mounts not sure though. Maybe you got a tall insert and need a short? I don't know, but when you say king bolt you mean for the mount itself or the one that goes thru the engine side mount thru that insert? I had a heck of a time putting a motor in my 85 mcss before I sold it, had to pry the insert up front and back and drive the long bolt thru there, it sucked.

I used those exact motor mounts and found it to be much easier to leave everything loose until every bolt in in then start tightening them down, but yes for some reason they don't line up exactly. One driver's side tabs on mine sits against the engine part of the motor mount, but I have no adverse effects from it so far.

Yes the long bolt that goes through both! What did you pry on the rubber(poly) or the metal? There a pain in my u know!!! I thought about leaving everything loose but the instructions to the mounts said to go ahead and tighten em up(liers)lol!

Yea I had to try and get a bar in behind the rubber and pull it up. The block side mounts seemed to keep pushing the rubber down I got a bar under the rubber insert and pryed it up enough to start the bolt and tap it thru with a hammer, once the threads came out the back to put a nut on I was home free. I don't think you'd need to pull it all out just raise that side or one side of the motor at a time and work on it. Or if you think you can do it maybe bolt it allto the block, sit it in place then bolt the clamshell/frame mount part to the frame.

Got the punches pulled out! LOL :P Ok guess I am going to loosen some bolts and try to get them lined up! DONT BUY THESE MOUNTS THEY ARE A Female Dog.....lol

i know iv had problems before even with stock mounts for the life of me i couldn't get to bolt up but my friend came right over and got them in no problem

No doubt I shoulda called him when I was working on the mcss. But yea mine were stock in the mcss and it sucked I had to use a prybar under the ruber parts and lift it up. Meaning my bar towards the crossmember or center of the car and pry the mount towards the upper frame or the ds fender to raise it up inside it's clamshell, like it had slide down.

Problem with mine is that the rubber fills up the whole mount! There isnt really anywhere to pry up? ???

lol not good. I think I might try as mentioned then loosen up or maybe undo them from the frame, bolt em to the block, and then try and get it in place and bolted to the frame.
I know this is a dumb question but have you tried flipping sides? Maybe the inserts are side specific or something?

WHOOO HOOO!!! Got em lined up! Now Ive got to get the tranny mount centered up! It too is a big red piece of crap like the motor mounts! I am thinkin ratchet strap it to the frame and crank it over the inch I need? I think I am going to drink a cold beer and do that 2morrow night!

so how'd you finally get them just loosen them up? If your motor mounts are still loose then I'd think a ratchet strap would work pretty good, but might want to loosen the bolts on it as well so it can move a little more in case you get it close with the strap, then can fine tune it with the mount, or check to see if it can be rotated 180 and try it?

I lowered one side in and slide the bolt through, then took a 2x4 and a hammer to the otherside until it was close. Then we stuck a alignment punch through the hole and jumped up and down on it until it lined up! We didn't loosen anything? I just need to pull the tranny over about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch to put the bolt in. I hope nothing gets in a bind should be OK....

been there done that, same way the mcss was but this last time beating it with a 2x4 and hammer done nothing. I coulkd get one side lined up no matter what but the other was a PITA. Glad it worked out though.
