I have a 84 with a mystery engine in it. I was told it was a 350. I haven't been able to see the codes on the bell housing flange, or behind the alt. I have found the code above the oil filter. It's a series of three number sets above each other. Looks like this:
001
002
155
The oil dipstick space on the oil pan is on the driver side if that helps.
If you guys can shed any light on the matter, I would appreciate it.
Thanks

usually a ds dipstick is an 80 and older engine. You need the numbers, from the pad under the alt. kindda hard to read sometimes, or the ones on back of the block, sould be right behind the head on the DS and on that flat bellhousing area of the block. without those it's gonna be hard to identify it, one thing though could be the intake or heads, there's a number on them if they are stock, although they can be changed easy, might get ya close.

You need the casting numbers at the very least

Yeah, I figured as much. I can't really trust any number on the heads or manifolds as this motor looks like it has been pieced together. But thanks for the help anyways guys.
