OK first sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings on this LOL. But I used to love them till I saw a movie call "low prices at a high cost" this movie goes on telling how Walmart is anti union and pay there people 7bucks and hour and then tell them to apply for wic or Medicare for Heath benefits and how they kill small shops. That kind of ticked me a little. But last note I surfed walmarts web site and found a game they had in stock web sites price was 42 bought that was cool so I went there to ft it only to find out its 60 at the store. Thought no problem they will lower the price and match he web site. Wrong was I they said"they do not compete with other walmarts and he web site is another store to them. To me it sounds like false advertisement. I think I'm going turn limit Walmart visits for now on
-
i put those them on my never again list a long time ago....its that place thats ruining america. makes everyone else compete with them cuz they wont pay a decent wage and wont hire people full time so they can get out of paying for benefits like health insurance. they hire 3 people at 15 hrs a week instead of 1 full time quality employee. then they pay china to make all their stuff, get it at a huge discount and pass the "savings" onto us consumers. meanwhile everyone else thinks their business model is so good that they try to start copying it. I would rather pay the extra money i mean lets face it. its not like half price or something. you might save a couple bucks. i hate that place
-
Irish, I saw the documentary that you speak of, where they encourage their employees to seek government assistance to make ends meet. Then when you see the list of the richest people in America there is half a dozen of the Waltons towards the top of the list. They have lower prices on some things because of the leverage that they have over producing companies. If you make a product and 90% of that product is sold at walmart, they can pretty much say that you will give it to us for this much or we'll go to your competition, and you won't sell any at all. That's what they did to Levi Strauss, Co. and it's no wonder everything is made in China, cause they low-ball everybody that tries to sell a product in the US. Bad for America. My $.02

One can choose to shop there or not, its one's choice. But, don't blame private industry for taking advantage of what our politicians have put in place.
Are we for capitalisim or not? YOu mix capitalism with "social programs" our genius politicians have put in place, WalMart is the result. Don't blame WalMart. Social programs inching more and more widespread, year after year. Then you wake up one morning and guess what? Back in the USSR.
We don't like buying foreign items, but, as a country, we many times don't have a choice because things are made so much cheaper overseas BECAUSE of unions here. And, may offend some, but reality is, Unions are social institutions. Folks, we have federal laws to protect 40 hr work weeks, etc. its called Federal Labor and Standards Act. The act is hundreds of pages long, it details ovetime pay, etc...why do we need Almighty Powerful Unions now that demand a percentage of constitutents pay? Then, demand so much, corporations go overseas to get things made. They artificially raise pay from airplane pilots to bus drivers to where companies are on the verge of bankruptcy. If unions were part of WalMart, guess what would happen? wages would increase, stores will close, jobs lost, and WalMart will end up like Woolworths or Sears or Murphy's. Those as old as I remember those old chain stores. Sears is still around, but after many bankruptcies and then joined with KMart--which too declared bankruptcy to clear bills courtesy of tax payers. which is better? As what Grim 82 stated, perhaps WalMart is too big and powerful to control which other businesses stay afloat if they chose to sell thier items or not.
Solution: let's raise the artificial minimum wage again Democrats. Then even more items will be made overseas and sold here. And McDonalds cheeseburgers will cost $4, want fries with that? another $4. Drink? Add $5 more. Gotta pay for the workers earning $9 an hour because min. wage increases every year. Want some blue jeans? No, they haven't increased in price in manufacturing because of min. wage increases...Levi Straus went to Mexico 7 years ago, they are still $25, but, retailer have to pay their stockers, distributors, and cashiers, they are now $55.
WIC and social programs for working people...never been a fan of that. Solution, don't drop out of school and get an education before having 8 kids.
Reallity: it won't happen that way and sob stories prevail in the media. Result=more social programs.
When people know they won't be left to starve because the gov't steps in and takes care of them, they will have many kids and the motivation to finish scholl just wont be there. It is a snowball effect. AFter two or three generations of "learning" this, inner cities became leaches on bona fide tax payers.
Result: yesterday they just passed an "unemployment extension" thru November, another 30+ billion in China money spending for people who will now earn more watching TV watching Springer than working somewhere. Democrats plan is to get more people to rely on the gov't, then, more people will vote democrat to keep these programs in future elections. Folks, there are jobs out there, just not comfortable "easy" jobs. If we get rid of these programs, people will find a way to work. My yard needs cutting. I'll gladly pay $20 for someone to push my lawnmower for an hour. When people HAVE to find work to eat, guess, what, they find work. No more easy life people. I don't sit at home, they shouldn't either.
It is true, this country is losing jobs. We are continually losing jobs. No more manufacturing jobs means more of our money going to China, Taiwan, Mexico where they have no unions. Is this free trade? Not in your life.
Solution: Clean house in Congress.
Folks, they say were are in a recession. But, I say get used to it. These jobs will never be back they way things are. All of the "former" American corporations are having things built overseas because its cheaper--lower benefits to pay workers, no unions to listen to, etc...Because all our money is going to make other countries rich, even our service jobs and gov't jobs will decline because we have to borrow money from China to "keep us afloat".
you think the Depression of the '30's was bad? Watch out.
Go to WalMart and stock up on canned goods that will last years and stock up your pantry. Buy weapons and ammo for defense. Get prepared.
better yet, move to mexico or Canada. Clinton did sign NAFTA for the North American Free Trade Agreement----has the 20 lane super interstate from Mexico to Canade cut our country in half yet?
I think like this: WalMart is just a metaphor as to how we will look in another decade with ALL jobs. We won't get paid much, because China is going to tighten up what they lend, our interest on what we do owe will be over 50% of what we take in, therefore, never becoming afloat--all jobs will be low salaries because of this and we will then, to the delight of all democrats, be dependent on "social programs". We will then vote democrat to keep food on our table. THEY ARE WINNING THE WAR. This bad ecnomy is the democrats best dream come true--so many more people are now dependent on social programs...once tasting the easy life, they remain democrat voters.
Every empire must fall. I just thought the U.S.A. would last more than 230 years. Even The Roman Empire lasted 4 centuries.
It's funny that Eupropeans have been here since 1607 Jamestown, Va---that's 400 years, but, only in the last 40 years have these social programs increased substanially to where we, as a country, choose to rely on them. It's the easy life. Our children will have no country because of it. The last 10% of American history has turned this place upside down. It's a snowball effect and in the last 40 years, we have been freefalling.

Sgt. Del for pres.!

2 votes for Sarge........
-
You got my vote too Sarge. It makes me angry to hear about people that work for a profitable company and then after payday they have to go to the county office and apply for government assistance. It's that business model that works with all of these social programs they cooked up to get people to rely on the gov for everything. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if we see in the near future Walmart being classified under their new "Too big to Fail" program and the gov does a takeover like they did with the banks and auto industry. As far as industry in this country, it's going to be alot worse when they cram this cap and trade BS into law and the producers in this country have to pony up more cash to operate just to keep Algore's jet full of fuel. They are trying to build sustainable poverty. It's like a new feudal system only in this system the serfs sit on the couch and watch Oprah, the elites argue about things that common sense could have solved, and the vast middle supports the whole shootin match.
-
I totally agree SgtDel! Another thing to keep in mind that's running American corporations out of town is the EPA! I realize we need a watch dog keeping an eye on them to prevent chemical waste from being dumped in rivers and toxins from being sent up smoke stacks etc. but come on! Our County doesn't burn trash anymore solely because the EPA drove the cost thru the roof. Now we just haul it in a truck 40 miles to the land fill (diesel exhaust from the truck?) and dump it all out on the ground.
No EPA regulations in 3rd world countries equal no manufacturing in America!
-
Just wait 'til cap and tax passes! I'll have to get out of manufacturing someday. I could get a government job if I knew how to play that corrupt system. Hasn't anyone seen Greece lately?
-
That's exactly right. If China had to meet even half of the labor, environmental, and tax laws that American companies do they wouldn't produce a thing.
-
I just thought of what SgtDel's presidential limo would look like. A stretch suburban, stroker powered. ;D
-
I just thought of what SgtDel's presidential limo would look like. A stretch suburban, stroker powered.
LOL
If I were elected, not only would that quote be true, but, everything would be different. All would know I'm just a simple American trying get back to the principles of our founding fathers. There'd be a gun rack in that stretch sub, I'd wear a baseball cap everywhere, and, I'd have a backbone. I'd have a bumper sticker on that sub saying "Say No to P.C.!"
You might even catch me in the Rose Garden sittin on a stool w/ a Miller Lite and I'd be pickin' my banjo. And, Bocephus would be playing on the loudest stereo system the white house had ever had--A Country Boy Can Survive and All My Rowdy Friends and Family Tradition.
My 65 Mustang Convertible GT would be up on blocks in front of the White HOuse to pay tribute to my friends in West By God Va. A couch and refrigerator will be on the front porch too--comfortable and easy access to my Miller lites.
And forget the newly constructed basketball court, i'd have a shooting range out there. If you want a job, post targets for me--heck forget targets, stack up my beer cans and I'll shoot them.
All those Harvard Lawyers and such will know what living is all about. And it ain't money. Can I get an Amen?
-
Ha! That's some knee slappin' funny right there!
-
Amen - once again you and I are holding hands on this, Sarge. You know that "gun control sticker" - use both hands. This country is on a fast track to heck. I didn't want change, I was pretty happy before. It'll never be the same. All the young one don't know how this country used to be - what a shame...
-
Amen. Delbridge/Nugent in 2012! Even if good ol Ted is a Furd guy
-
Nugent is my idol. That guy tells it like it is and has a platform to do so. i love his books--Ted, White and Blue and Gods Guns and Rock n Roll.
-
I haven't been in Wally World in months! I have found if you shop around you can find better prices than they have on many things.......personally I hate the place!!!
-
Nugent is my idol. That guy tells it like it is and has a platform to do so. i love his books--Ted, White and Blue and Gods Guns and Rock n Roll.
And don't forget Kill it & Grill it. It's a good read; much more than just a cookbook.
-
I don't know why I do this, but I read this mornings paper. Depressing. Of every dollar the White House spends, 41 cents is borrowed. Should we thank the Chinese? That's money we've been giving them over the last 3 decades due to manufacturing, now they are graciously lending us that money back at interest. Just for us to "maintain" our standard of living, and for those who don't want low paying jobs to start somewhere to "build" their careers it increases their standard of living. Thanks social programs! Thanks China!
This year we will add 1.47 trillion dollars in debt. That is one year deficit....what happened to a balanced budget? geeze. We're putting off the pain for the next generation, and it will hurt far worse than if we weather the storm now, but no politician wants us to weather the strom now....put it off, they'll worry about it tomorrow when the Congessmen who are all in their 60's and 70's will be 6 feet under anyway. My kid thanks you. Obama has how many years left to add to the deficity? Bly that time, whew, we will be in such bad shape, we will all be reliant on social programs...isn't that the plan?
White House predicts record $1.47 trillion deficit:

Before O'bama we were in trouble thanks to GWB and before he took office there was a budget surplus thanks to Bill Clinton. Sgtdel and may others that agree with you are obviously conservative republicans. I am a proud liberal personally and I also believe O'bama is doing OK considering the mess GWB left. He deserves most of the blame and rightfully so considering his policy's have been in effect for 8 years prior to O'bama. So lets put the blame where it should go and don't expect O'bama to make it right in just a short time.
You also cannot blame all the job losses on unions (although I am sure many republicans would like to) but instead greedy corporations whose ceo's make astronomical salary's yet only pay their workers pennies in comparison. They are only looking to maximize profits at the expense of the workers so they will use the cheapest labor they can find.
These foreign competitors also let there employees work in very hazardous conditions (sweatshops etc), offer no benefits whatsoever and make them work long hours without breaks, pay them squat so yea they will work for nothing practically. Noone can compete with that!
Walmart is our enemy here and persoanlly I don't mind paying a little more to get the product elsewhere than to suppport them.
How many times have you guys bought cheap Chinese auto parts that were severly inferior or just downright junk? In fact most Chinese stuff is all junk and yes even Harbor Freight. You would do better off spending more money for something that will last.
-
i agree with both hogdaddy and sgt. dell.....im not a republican or a democrat i just want whats best for all of us. unfortunately the majority of america today wants the govt. to take care of them. some stuff is ridiculous though. like that fact that i have to pay 2.5 times the amount my house (IM A House owner) for daycare for my two kids. gwb did screw us all over by putting us in two wars we cannot "win" but obama is just cruising through office. the fact of the matter is that nobody who gets elected in the presidency can change anything. they get shot down by bipartisan politics when they try something. it is the greedy coorporations fault and they would just maximize profits without unions. im a member of a union and its kinda a joke but at the same time what the heck kinda shape would i be in without them? they would try to treat me like wallmart to maximize profits. giant coorporations get these politicians in their pockets by giving them huge campaign contribuitons. in turn these dirty dogs put their best intereset at the forefront. its a dang joke but america is bought and sold. greed....the new american way! And if a politician comes along for common sense he cant compete cuz he doesnt get these campaign contributions IE ron paul....its a joke
-
all this talk of walmart being bad (and it is, i haven't shopped there in 3-4 years) made me realize something. well, 2 things.
1: i want sgtdel to run for president in 2012
2: i can't shop at harbor freight anymore ( with the whole chinese manufacturing thing)
i really hope one happens, and i really hope 2 doesnt. i like harbor freight, but i don't like supporting overseas countries when we are in such shambles ourselves.... buy american!!!
-
Oh, I am not pro republican, conservative anything. I am anti current politicians who only care about themsleves and what is happening today. I said earlier, clean house in congress, i don't care if they have an (R) or a (D) next to their name. What about tomorrow? I have a 5 yr old and I fear for his future. That's all. I don't want him to think it is ok to get a free ride in life. He must work to finish school, work his but off at a low paying job initially until he proves he can EARN a higher salary, THEN have kids. And not rely on the gov't to do put food on his plate. For hundreds of years, that is how America became great. We led the world in inventions and industry. Now, what's the point? You work hard and get taxed like i don't know what so that others with different principles can get a check while having 5 kids. WE DON'T NEED ALL THESE SOCIAL PROGRAMS! That is the death of this country, taking away self responsibility and self reliance. I don't depend on no one, no one to put food on my plate but me. I dont live beyond my means, my mortgage isnt much, my newest vehicle is 20 yrs old. I don't keep up w/ the Joneses. But, I have to pay for people who all these things are important to. go to your county's social services building on any day and count the number of kids these single mothers bring in there. They have all these kids because they know they won't starve and it increases their benefits. Yet, their programs are increasing every single day! And I am mad!
Yes, W messed us up. I don't like him, never have. W was dumb as a rock and only rode on daddy's coat tail. Clinton had a balanced budget...the last one to do so. He even shut the gov't down so that stupid congress was forced to pass his budget--that was balanced without all that pork going to congressional constituents. I love the non-inhaling Clinton for that. I still don't like NAFTA though.
Since the dems have controlled congress, we have seen record deficits. American principles have shifted to a nanny state, right or wrong? Since when should the gov't take care of us financially? In colonial times, you didn't work, you didn't eat. YOu didn't have all these kids to feed unless you could feed them yourself. I say again, lets bite the bullet now so our next generation will live better. Period.
I am not republican, I am not democrat, I am pro our founding fathers and don't think the constitution should be tampered with and the 2nd amendment of the Bill of Rights should remain as stated, without liberal supreme court justices taking away MY freedom to defend oneself, because we know criminals don't care what the law says, they will have guns regardless. The only ones that laws effect are law abiding citizens. guns don't kill, people kill.
These foreign competitors also let there employees work in very hazardous conditions (sweatshops etc), offer no benefits whatsoever and make them work long hours without breaks, pay them squat so yea they will work for nothing practically. Noone can compete with that!
That's my point exactly! Why are unions demanding so much in America? The companies know things are cheaper overseas and they are pushed there.
-
Wal Mart was such a better place when Sam Walton was alive. He treated employees with respect. And he was all for the customer. Now that he is gone and his family took it over that place sucks.
-
They have a saying that goes "satisfaction guarantee" which don’t mean crap if you ask me. Sgt Imp just like most are with you on this one. If you need help and deserve it im here to back you up but if you want help because you have 20 kids and think that’s all you have to do then ill take you kids and send you on your way. No more free hand outs, its bad when my dad who has parkinsons and is in his early 50s cant get help but some young bucks in there 20s with 5 kids just go around and mess up on interviews cause they like that little check there getting in the mail. I think if he can get out a couple more kids he should be set lol
-
now they want to track us lol
http://finance.yahoo.com/family-home/article/110152/wal-mart-radio-tags-to-track-clothing
and i love this paragraph
Wal-Mart's broad adoption would be the largest in the world, and proponents predict it would lead other retailers to start using the electronic product codes, which remain costly. Wal-Mart has climbed to the top of the retailing world by continuously squeezing costs out of its operations and then passing on the savings to shoppers at the checkout counter. Its methods are widely adopted by its suppliers and in turn become standard practice at other retail chains
-
That's my point exactly! Why are unions demanding so much in America? The companies know things are cheaper overseas and they are pushed there.
There is no way that all the job losses can be attributed to unions I mean for one, everybody don't belong to a union but know all too well about losing jobs because foreign workers will work for $2 per hour w/ no benefits, harsh conditions, no breaks long hours.
Sounds to me like corporate GREED mostly.
I am not crazy about NAFTA either but while Clinton championed this the democrats as whole were against it. Not surprising here is all the republicans were in fact for it.
I am also surprised that you say your not a republican because your idol Ted Nugent surely is. Everything you say sounds like republican to me even though you say your not.
-
How can you possibly be happy with anything Obama has done? He can't keep blaming everything on Mr. Bush. I was unhappy with Bush by the time he left office too, but Obama with his Marxist policies has gone too far. He must have graduated Liars School (although he'll never show the transcripts) Magna Cum Laude. Open administration??? You've got to be kidding. Health care nobody wanted rammed down our throats, biggest deficit ever, cash for clunkers, we all know about that, take over of privately held corporations, cap and trade, refusing help with oil spill from 13 other nations for over 60 days.
He is a social worker, nothing more. He is in way over his head. He bows to Arab leaders that would just as soon see us dead, while snubbing our allies England, Israel, and Germany. He is supposed to be a great speaker, try listening to him without a um um teleprompter. More and more people are waking up to the bad decision they made when voting 2 years ago, perhaps you will too hogdaddy. Here is an Obama quote I just love, "My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it". I know this has gotten off Wallmart, but your statement about Obama fired me up. And yes, unions have ruined this nation. You can't pay people $25.00 and hour to put lug nuts on a car rolling down an assembly line. Make the playing field level for American companies and we'll do fine, can you say import tariffs. I am not a republican - LIBERTARIAN would be much closer.
-
I am not crazy about NAFTA either but while Clinton championed this the democrats as whole were against it. Not surprising here is all the republicans were in fact for it.
Everything you say sounds like republican to me even though you say your not.
Hogdaddy, you are contradicting yourself. I don't like NAFTA, many republicans were for it, yet you say "Everything you say sounds like republican to me even though you say your not."
???
There is no way that all the job losses can be attributed to unions
Where did I say ALL JOB LOSSES are attributed to unions? I don't believe I said that.
I think it is clear what i believe. And, I don't think you can cover my opinions under one blanket of a political affiliation. I'll tell you what I don't like, and that is socialism.
LIBERTARIAN would be much closer.
If any affiliation describes my views, it is that less gov't is the better gov't. That does sound close to Libertarianism. I'm right there with you Grover.
I am one to keep an open mind. Obama dind't have any track records prior to becoming our president. Because of the symbolism of having an African American elected president and I wanted to be part of that, I actually attended his inauguration. Well, now we know what kind of president he has become. www.delbridge.net/inaugural
-
I'm thankful that we don't get all of the government that we pay for.
-
I am about to remove all this member bashing and I don't want to hear ANY complaints. This is a RULE that you agreed to. I don't care if anyone is liberal, republican, democrat or what, POLITICS don't belong on this board. THREAD LOCKED, maybe DELETED!!
SgtDel, I apologize for this unwarranted personal attack.
hogdaddy, lay off on Bashing other members
