Title: Late Model Seats in 80's Chevy
Post by: tyheid2002 on July 27, 2010, 09:52:24 pm
I have an 88 Crew Cab Chevy, old style, 4x4 which I have gutted and I am in the process of re-doing. I have purchased a set of seats out of a 2002 chevy 3/4 ton full size to replace the seats. The front seat is a 40/20/40 split and I was thinking about taking 2 bucket seat frames and mounting the seats to that. Does anyone know where to find new replacement seat brackets/frames? Secondly, has anyone attempted a installation like this in their truck? If so, any tricks to help me out.

Thanks,

Tyler

I have found the following at a local shop. Has anyone used these in a 80's Chevy truck?

heck yeah, that looks great, did those bolt right in? I have attempt that with mine, however the mound in the 80's chevy's under the seat won't allow for the seats that I have out of a 2002 Chevy 3/4 ton. I need a low profile frame to mount the seats to. Help me out. I have a week and a half off and I am going to be working on it. Help....

Nothing aside from the stock bench seats will bolt straight in.  Bucket seats of the same era are close with minor modifications. You can probably make the 02 seats (or almost any other seats) work, you'd just have to remove the track or whatever from underneath and make your own brackets.

Found some tracks from a 89 Suburban, $20 for the pair, should get to work on it in the next month.
