Title: Newbie from GA thinking about getting a 1985 Silverado LWB
Post by: AndyT on July 30, 2010, 01:16:38 pm
Hello!  I'm new.....obviously!  I am currently looking to trade my 1995 Harley Davidson Sportster Hugger 883 for a pickup truck.

I paid $4000 for my Harley about 4 years ago.  Currently the KBB.com value is $3100.  I'm looking for $3500 in trade.

I have a guy who is giving me this offer right now.  Can you help me make a decision?  Really want a SWB, but it is what it is.  Do you think this truck is worth $3100-$3500?

Thank you so much!!

Given the body work needed I would say $3100 is a touch high.  On the other hand if that 400 is really in great shape it could be worth it.

If you think you can get the price you want by selling your bike outright, I would hold out for what you really want.

Thanks for the input!  Could I maybe put this in another thread to get more feedback?

Thanks again!  I'm torn because I would take it if it was a SWB!  I'm going to go look at it this weekend.

I have a new offer.
1985 Chevy 4X4 LWB. Looks good!  I'm getting more details as I write this.  What do you think? $3100?

Here's what he said,

"Could use brakes pulls to right when hit brakes gas hand doesnt work other then that its a good work truck."

What does "gas hand doesn't work" mean??  Thanks!!

looks nice, I'm guessing he means the gas guage doesn't work, but who knows? btw, looks like something is taped up on the drivers side vent window. I'd look pretty close at this one-why would he describe it as a pretty good work truck and not just a good truck? any it looks clean I would take a look at that price.

Kind of looks like the vent window is still taped up from painting something or busted out, but it looks like newspaper.  It looks good and could be worth it but like 1980c10 said, I'd look pretty close and climb under it and look.  It appears to have just been painted and could be covering numerous issues that could pop back out in no time flat.  I'm pretty distrusting of people when I buy a vehicle and know to be careful around "just painted" vehicles.

$3100.00 seems high for both of them.  Wait, something exactly like what you want will come along.

I'm with the rest I would wait for the standard wheel base that your looking for one once you trade in you can't really go back then you lost out cause now you have something less than you had before. I would almost think for 3500 you could get a almost show truck.

I agree with you guys.  That's why I came here.  I went to Nada Guides.com and it listed at $2350.

If I can sell the bike, that would be my first choice.  Then buy what I want.

Thanks
