First the easy ones! Is it possible to change my gage lights to some LEDs? Can I order just new plastic gage cover?
Second the hard one! Now from reading almost every previous post on speaker system setups I know everybody has their own opinion on whats best. I have an Idea for mine and I'm OPEN to ALL opinions! Let me know if it will work or just not a good idea. I come here for real EXPERT advice and cant tell you how much being on this site helps!!! Now that out of the way heres what I was thinking!
I have two 6x9's and a tweeter kit with 4 tweeters. The p.o. took all the factory speakers out, cut the vents on the doors and added 6x9's. I dont like the location because the cheap ones he had blew up a week after I had the truck. Gotta slam the passenger door pretty hard!!! the shop doesn't have the silverado trim kick panels which i want :'( so for now so replace those or use the adapter for a 6x5 and tweeter but not sure if ill have door issues! Now if that doesn't work 6x9 in the vent area and maybe two tweeters in the dash corners and upper pillars? I want to do the 3x5's in the dash I've seen from other post! Now for subs, for under the bench I found a deal on the kenwood amped slim profile 10"s two of those or will shallow mount 12"s work behind the bench better? I listen to everything so BASS is a must for my RAP without a C! and tone it down for my HEADBANGIN and BOOT STOMPIN'! LOL! I also dont have the factory mounts in the cab corners, thats my little storage area but if I need it for speakers thats what the back of the truck is for right!!! Like always all help and opinions are appreciated!!!

You don't need slim fit subs, I had two twelves behind my seat and 2.5 cubic ft of box(I built myself) and my seat all the way back, I did have to put my amp sorta where the 6x9's go back there. For the doors since they have a huge hole, I'd just put a different set of 6x9's in there. I never found a set of 3.5's that didnt blow in the dash. Maybe its just my luck? Good luck with everything.

You can change your gauge lights to LEDs, I did mine to Blue. Just search for the correct 194, 168 etc replacement LEDs. The problem I had is the LEDs come in a push in style, and they don't make the correct connections, so i fed the leads down through the stock plastic base and bent them up on the outside and I have had no problems. they look really good at night, but the only downside is they are not dimmable, like factory bulbs.

I ordered some LED lights and they fit great in the original sockets that twist in to the printed circuit. The only problem was they were alot dimmer than the original bulbs, so I took them back out. I am sure that I had the wrong angle, intensity, etc. of bulbs and that is the only reason they didn't work. There are several options, and I would call them before ordering.

Might want to look into some weather proofing on them door mounted speakers, if they get any water in there might screw em up.
As for kick panels capt. has them here in his store I seen em recently.
As for bass no sometimes depending on mounting depth COMPLETELY you don't absolutely have to have slim subs but if yours have too much mounting depth then the seat has to be moved up or you have to find another sub. I got 2 kickers behind the seat in my reg. cab 99(newer body style) and it takes up the whole area, it's like 60 wide bu 10 inches thick at bottom 3 inches thick on top and 17 inches tall.
As for speakers I've ran alot, pioneers, loved em, no compliants, kickers, one of my personal favs and best, but higher price, I hear good things on infinity and such, I got some cheap boss speakers, ok for the price, kickers sounded great, pioneers were good and still are, had some cheapo 3.5's in the monte carlo, still do they sound great forget the brand.

I ordered a new dash lense for my truck and a new gas guage needle and speedometer needle and made them look like new. I've tried 2 infinity 3.5's in the dash didn't like them. I ended up with a kicker 4x10 and it is night and day better and actually has a good mid and high range without distortion. I currently have two enclosed herts 6x9's everthing is run off a 4 channel amp. amazing sound for 3 small speakers. in the future I will add two 10" kickers behind the seat and some tweeters up front whenever I think of a good (hidden) location. -panasonic deck

Well I just ordered some 800w 3way Boss 6x9's for 60.00!!! Ill update on the quality of those when I get them in. I think instead of making the adapter with the 3.5s Ill go with a top brand 4x10. The tweeters, Eh thought about mounting them in on the back window pillar area but looks like i might have to cut the cab so ???? Now should I get a 4 channel amp for that set up and a seperate for the SUBS or one big enough for all? The p.o. also cut and pulled out some of the foam back on the original bench seat for some subs and he told me he never got around to putting them in. I have a new bench and the subs will have to wait 'til interiors end most likely so not too worried about those now.
I found a white faced overlay kit for the gauges, ordered that as well but not sure on the led color yet. Probly blue and i like a bright dash so the dimming option I dont mind. I'm just thinking white led on white kit might be too much!!! Had to order the park gauge assembly because mine doesnt have the needle!!!
Swims- never thought of the weather proofing I've never noticed water or any problems after heavy rain or a wash. I do keep it in covered parking. I just had problems because my passenger door is so hard to close. I'm sure marina speakers will do the trick but not sure what brand I would run. And I checked the store yesterday and said not avail. HMMM I might have to wait again but I read you have park break issues and I use mine all the time.
THANKS for all the advice and input
And if needed a link to show which bulbs replace all those on an 85 dual headlight you can also search your application as needed http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide/AutoLRG-Results.htm

crutchfield is your friend when it comes to speakers they have marine stuff, home and car stuff. comparison charts and everything.
As for park brake yea they said that on the 85 mcss I got and I just grabbed the park brake pedal and bent it out, now it works perfectly and does not hit. Not to mention capt. looks like they are low enough to clear the pedal since on the trucks they are up high.

Crutchfield is also the highest priced by far.

I used million buy. They are pretty cheap, decent prices, have good enough selection. They even have some discontinued stuff available.

Dimensions (WxHxDxT): W 18" x H 17-1/2" x (Bottom) 9-1/2" x (Top) 5 3/42"
Oh and those 6x9's were 5way and i got a 400w 4x10!!! just dont know about an amp. I was thinking of a 4way 400 watt if that will be enough for the 6x9s and not not blow the 4X10
