In the large plug at the back of the gauge panel (the plug that connects to the circuit board), is the wire placement the same on certain years 73-80, 81+? Reason Im asking is I have a stock gauge setup out of another truck and I dont know the year it came out of and I dont know what gauges went were on my truck-dont know if I had the smaller fuel gauge or the large fuel gauge etc.

can't help you for sure but when I went with digital gauges I taped into the fuel gauge by following the fuel gauges circuit board to the plug in and since I was able to do that I would say it would be different due to the fact the board would be dependent on what year it was and the pig tail would have to match up to the board if that makes any sense. But I think if you have a picture of your gauges new and old someone could tell you what year they came out of

I've done that too. Just follow the printed board down to the plug and you can find the wire you need.

Well the stock gauges I have are not from my truck and I havent plugged it in to see if it works. What Im trying to find out is it the same or not.

Post a pic and someone should be able to help you if its from about your year and if it probably came out of a truck like your

Wire placement is not the same, See the tech section for the wiring diagrams.

OK cool. Is there a way to know the year of a gauge panel setup? Might there be a part number stamped somewhere to run?
