Title: spoliks build
Post by: spolik on August 08, 2010, 07:07:34 am
ok i'm still a newbie here. thought id start my build thread. i'm building one truck from 3.

this is my shorty ive been wheeling for years
(http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q180/spolik-photos/chevy%20truck%20build/DSC_0003.jpg)

then i found a mint frame so i brought it home.

as you can see i plan on shorting this frame .. i just can't let go of a shorty
(http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q180/spolik-photos/chevy%20truck%20build/DSC_0008.jpg)

i then got a part truck $200
(http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q180/spolik-photos/chevy%20truck%20build/DSC_0004.jpg)

so i started to strip down the part truck.

had to give the engine back to the guy i got it from :( but   but i have 3 sbc350 4bolts so not a big deal..

and this is about where im at. still working on it.. the front windshield cracked while trying to remove it.. :(  but i felt better once i though a hammer through it .... lol  hopefully will be able to keep up with all the pics and progess.......

got a little more stripping done.
firewall stripped, windshield cracked during removal, so to make me feel better a hammer went through the rest of it.

got the inside stripped.

as for not using this frame, heres a couple pic of where it's rotten and previous owner tried to fix.

Shame I aint close and had a place if the other cab was decent I could take it and find everything else and build me a truck one day lol.

just scrapping the blue cab and frame. i'll prob fix the other shorty frame and hang it out back, as a just in case frame..
the blue cab could be fixed but my white cab is in better shape so i plan on using it. i need to get this built as it plows my driveway in the winter.

Looks like a good project.  Seeing the pictures of the rust on that frame make me appreciate the relatively rust free frames I am used to in Texas.

yea that's the one I was talking about, I wished I had a cab and frame or whole truck for that matter but one piece at a time would be good, but on my budget I'd have to get freebies and they'd be probably worse then scrap LOL

well the blue cab and frame are gone, i took the blue box back off the lwb frame and measured, then measured, then measured, and today i finally cut the frame, shortened it and re welded, i think it looks OK so far, but i still need to weld the inside and plate the inside  for strenght,, i got a couple of pics, I'll try to upload soon.
