Post by: RedEightySix on August 10, 2010, 12:29:34 am

My 86 has almost 227,000 on it. Original motor trans, and front end. Tranfer case was replaced with a used one this past winter. Put a new used carrier in the rear end a few years ago.

my 91 sub V2500 has 217,000 on it with the original 5.7 and 4L80E trans and 3.73 axles.  The only thing i know of that has been replaced on the engine is the distributor, a/c compressor, power steering pump.   She still doesnt use oil--the only time I put oil in it is at oil changes.

What had the million miles on it, the truck or the motor?
I've had great luck with the 350 TBI motors, I've had a few of these with 200K+ on them and they still ran strong.

The truck has over a million, and the motor lasted for around 600K before it was rebuilt. As far as I know it still runs to this day even.

My uncle's '91 S-10 4 door blazer with a 4.3 was up to 312k, with about 230k of those being rural mail route miles. Still didn't burn any oil, transmission shifted tight, transfer case still worked great..but EVERY suspension component was just wore out, and the rockers were all gone. So it was retired, and none of its successors have survived as long. If the body were in better shape, he'd probably rebuild the suspension and put it back in service for another 300k..no doubt it'd make it.

My 94 GMC has 340,000 on original 4.3L and 4L60E
My 98 GMC has 177,000 on original 5.0L and 4L60E
My 81 dually haha who knows, it say 42,694, but the body looks like it hit that 5 times over!!

But my uncle had over 400K on his 93 Chevy 2500 with the original, yet very tired 350/4L80E combo when he sold it (still running)

Chris, you oughta take pics of the steps involved.  I am curious.  The worst part probably is dropping the tank to get to it. I hope you don't have a full tank.

I've seen a few blazers and burbs where someone just cut a hole in the rear floor to get to the pump.

I'm jealous of all you guys with less than 100K miles on your oldies...But for being at 148K miles, my truck isn't rusting TOO bad!

Actually I do plan to take pictures.  If I can swing it I may take some video.

I know this is an old thread  but I dont post much on  here ....my 87 Silverado  has 407,000 miles original drivetrain completely ! It was my uncles personal truck for his construction comp. for 10 years..... then it got cycled into the mix as a lumber/work truck for another 10/12 years ... I bought it from him for 500.00 and traded a new lumber rack , I have replaced the battery , alternator..of thing that had to be replaced....the rest I did cuz i wanted to ...... paint , scavenged interior from a 89 Sub trim pieces from EVERY WHERE...... tires and wheels from Craigslist 200.00 still runs very good  more reliable than my wifes 97 Sub , with double  her miles !!!! the truck is all original aside from the suburban interior ....

Just goes to show, that they will run forever. My 78 K10 had 131.000 on it when I sold it. The 86 C20 had about 245 thousand when it throwed a rod out of the old 305.

Don't exactly know what my '77 C 10 has, it says 28,500 and I figure to add 200K to it. My '04 Monte has 110,000 after many trips to NH and back to VA.

My 79c20 has 63xxx original miles on the truck, and the engine has about 2000 miles on it. The truck sat for ten years before I bought it. The title/registration from 10 years ago says 30xxx. (: arizona truck with AZ rust (slight surface rust). Just an amazing truck. The front suspension was replace about 15 years ago, as it was a work truck and I'm sure it saw a lot of abuse on work roads. And, I think, not sure, but THINK it still has original drums, shoes, rotors, and pads.

My 82 K10 had 38,xxx on it until I swapped the gauge cluster. Now it only has 11,xxx. It's all original except for the motor, trans, t-case, axles, steering column, interior, fuel tanks, front clip and doors. ;D

112k on my 84. Original drivetrain front to back. I've done the body work, paint, and changed both gas tanks but nothing mechanically has been changed.

If I am to believe the notations put down in the owners manual by previous owners, my 89 is 340k and it runs great.  Well the motor works well, need to replace the trans.

Its a 6.2

My 85 c-10 has 87,100 on it and it has been sitting in the woods since 2001.  About two months ago through a battery in it to see if it would crank and dang if the 305 didnt actually fire right up, its a shame the Turbo 350 is blown.

My friend has a 79 c-20  that has 30,000 original miles on it 350/4 spd but the body has basically rotted off around the motor.

thats the best thing about this trucks, they could sit forever and still crank and fire.

my 87 r10 sat for 10 years, cleaned fuel tank out and put new fuel pump in and battery and canked it over and it fired right off
