Title: 79 4x4 fleetside doors
Post by: lpapa15 on August 14, 2010, 10:32:25 am
I am considering buying a 76-80 blazer or suburban and parting it out for my 79 fleetside k10 Cheyenne.  Are there any complications, warnings or any advice for that idea?  I want to use the doors, steering column, guage cluster and dash..  any help would be awesome.... thanks

All the same except for the early convertible blazers to 80 will interchange with your 79.  Doors are slightly different up to 76 I believe but someone with the hard facts will chime in...

The doors are a direct bolt on from 73 up, except the full convertable top Blazers as allready mentioned. The interior panels are different, the shape of the vent window is a little different at the very top.
As for the gage cluster, and steering column there are some little differences from year to year in the pin position where the wiring plugs in. Can't remember exactly but around 77, 78ish they changed from a mechanical oil pressure gage to an electric one. If you are changing it to get away from idiot lights and go to gages its not a plug and play deal.
