Title: northeast new guy
Post by: stepsideclyde on August 19, 2010, 07:08:35 pm
Hi all, Proud owner of a 85 chevy step side 4 wheel drive, that I purchased new. being in Maine, it has both rear fenders replaced, new cab corners installed and been painted twice...91000 mi... currently in the shop to get body removed, frame painted, cat back exhaust installed... It once had dual exhaust installed but I changed it back because of state inspection laws... 305 with a 4 speed and 2.73 (gulp) gears... not a real acceleration monster... currently has 31x10.50 rubber... looking forward to lurking and learning for a while..thanx

... It once had dual exhaust installed but I changed it back because of state inspection laws...

That would suck to live in a state with laws that strict. Mine's running true duals with no cats and Flowmaster 40's and passes Missouri inspection every year! :)

If you know the right people I prolly could get a sticker with the duals... but I am an inspection mechanic myself (at a fleet station)  so I decided to conform to the law

That's probably a smart move. I guess our emission laws in Missouri aren't as strict or with the year of my truck the emissions laws are a little less strict. I think in Missouri anything pre-82 you can pretty much do anything you want with your exhaust and they don't care as long as all the gaskets are doing what they are supposed to.

agreed, prolly now I could get away with it much easier,  Had the duals on around '88 or '89....man time sure does go fast!
