This thread is for trucks you've come across that leaves you wondering "what the heck were they thinking when they ordered this?!"
I'll start with a 1978 (erroneously stated it was a '77 in my intro thread) Silverado 1/2 ton 4x4 longbed.
It had:
350
automatic
cruise control
inside hood release
cargo lamp
delay wipers
roof clearance lights
dual tanks
It had NOTHING ELSE. No A/C, no tilt, no gauges (I think they were a credit option on Silverados), not even a radio.
My guess is that it was possibly ordered for long distance driving.
I have the RPO sheet from this truck somewhere in my garage, though the truck has long since been melted into a new Kia. I wish I had kept some of the parts off it but I didn't think i would be wanting another squarebody.

on my build sheet, and on the front pad on the block by the alternator, My Engine has a Code of "TDS" no, not TSD... ;)
Nobody I've talked to or emailed has any clue what it is.... Original Engine in a 78 C20, 350ci, 4bbl, Federal, with a TH400 tranny.
Anybody got the $64 answer.... ;D

oops, read that wrong.
Sometimes, engine stampings are fouled up. I've heard of and seen lots of things from assembly lines. Like a Chevy that has a Silverado emblem on one side and a Sierra Classic emblem on the other.

I had 1980 C-10 Custom Deluxe that came with a 350 Diesel/Th400 2.73 rear end w/AC, plaid bench seat non tilt no cruise no other special options. The thing that was weird about this truck was the cargo light. I had never seen a strip model with no headliner come with the cargo light.
