Found a 1980 Suburban (GMC) with a 503 big block. It's 1/2 ton 4WD. New American Racing aluminum rims and 35x12.50 BFG's. Perfect dash pad, and factory tach dash. !2,000 Warn winch (new), 4" lift, Rancho air shocks (adjusts from inside cab) front and rear A/C, 500 watt stereo. Rust in all usual areas including under drip rails. Not sure about front diff. He wants $2500.00. All I want is the engine, and dash. Do you guys think I could come out OK selling what's left?

OK, I just found out it's a 1/2 ton but the running gear was changed and it's now 3/4 ton with a 400 turbo.

Sounds like way more than $2500 in parts alone... especially all the new stuff.

I've been saying for a long time the cheapest way to get free parts is to part out a truck. Although I hate to see these trucks get junked this sounds like the typical truck I buy. Lots of good parts installed on a rotted out truck.
Off the top of my head I would say the winch is about $1000 new. You would get about $500 on craigslist for it. A set of decent 35"s on aluminum rims will fetch about $500. All 1980 trucks came with a 205 transfer case so if you have a Turbo 400-205 set up thats an easy $500. I don't bother saving the rear 10 bolts but yours should be a 12 bolt so call it $200. That lift kit with good shocks will get about $150.
Thats just the parts that I have seen on your post, I'm sure there may be more such as headers, driveshafts, that a/c system and stereo.
I've parted out a ton of these trucks and I would guess you will easily make your money back and get a free big block and mint dash out of the deal. Don't forget you can junk the shell when your done if you have a car trailer and make a few more $$.
