Hey I found a guy on craigslist with a 83 4x4 Shortbed, asked if he would sell me the bed and he said he'll sell truck whole truck for 150. He says he doesn't have a title, can I still get the bed and junk the rest out without title?
-
yea you could check on getting a title for it as well although it may cost a pretty penny not sure until ya check.
Buy it snatch all the good stuff, scrap the rest, sell the other parts or keep em if you think you might need them.

Would do it without thinking twice, but I got a 4 car drive way with a mustang, expedition, tahoe, and my 86gmc. In the grass next to that I have a junk 21' boat. Don't really have the room to store another truck. Guess the best thing to do is call the junk yard tomorrow and talk to them.

some states require a title even to junk a truck as scrap!! mass does, RI doesn't. so i call the RI companies to come get my junkers....

What is RI?
-
It's a state.
You could cut it up into a million pieces or craigslist it as scrap and a scrap metal guy will haul it away.

:D :D didnt realize the op was from FL.

Now I would never promote illegal acts, but I wonder what your local steel scrapper would do with such left overs... ;) Something to ponder...

Like vile said, get it for the bed, cut the rest up into pieces that are no longer a vehicle and scrap. No title needed, just some time and a lot of sawsall blades. :D

I take vehicles to the junkyard at least once a week in Mass without the title. I always protect myself by getting some proof of ownership (old registration, excise tax, insurance bill, old speeding ticket) basically anything with the owners name and vehicle ID on it and it's good to go.
As a side note there are lots of legit reasons that a vehicle in Mass would not have a title.
Neighboring states such as New Hampshire and Rhode Island do not titlie older vehicles. So any of these vehicles that ended up in Mass as parts trucks would not have a title.

i forget how much but the junk yards around here will give you less pennys per 100lbs for no tittle

Around here they are paying $185 a ton regardless of the title.
Just use common sense and protect yourself by getting some proof of ownership.

Down here in Florida they wont touch anything without a title, unless you cut it up. So we just cut vehicles up before we take them if we dont have the title.

Was planning on calling them to see if they will pick it up where it sits now and just pick up the bed before they take it. When I get some time I'm going to call around and get with owner.
