maybe somebody can give me a little help the bottom hose on my water pump blew off and im wondering if i got a bad water pump or is it the thermastat stuck closed if anybody has any ideas before i start pulling stuff off and just replacing things it would be a big help thanks....
-
I would say it want tight or worked it self free fill it up with water and try it again while you at it test the Rad with a pressure tester
-
ok thanks i guess i will replace the hose and clamp fill it back up with a 50/50 mix and hope for the best thanks for the help my brother just said the same thing you did and i trust his judgement as well as anybody i no so thanks for your hep....
-
Did it overheat? if not it's just a problem with the hose.
-
no it never overheated it stayed at 170 to 180 which is the norm for that truck ive noticed what are your thoughts
-
As Irish said, put a pressure tester on it.
How long had the hose been on? I've had worm clamps back off before.
-
Just make sure you clean the water pump opening so the hose can grip it better. Coolant is a little slippery.
-
not sure how long its been on there i just got the truck about two months ago and im still figuring out things on it and still working out all the little problems its had so far but i wouldnt give this truck away for no reason so i will just keep on working on it thanks for all the help...
-
Darn nice looking truck you have!
-
thanks ive enjoyed everything about it since i had it just gets old having to fix things all the time lol......
-
Like mentioned before, pressure check the system, my thought was if you had a plugged rad or problem with water pump, it would have shown on your temp. gauge. Keep us posted on what you find, ok......tom
-
thanks for the info well i replaced the hose with new and new clamps all new fluids and so far everything is working great temp runs around 185 to 195 so i think it will be ok till the next time something goes wrong thanks for the help.....
-
I'd pressure test that cap... If the thermostat was stuck closed, you'd get a lot higher temp!!! Bad water pumps leak.
-
The bottom hose doesn’t see that much pressure the only problems it should have is if it collapses even if it did see high pressure the water pump will push water from one side of the block to the other and just bypass the hoses ex. when the stat is closed water is still being circulated in the block just not threw the rad. That’s why I think it just might have been lose. They don’t leak all the time just if the seal goes up if the blades wear down no leaks
-
Good point on if blades wear down, no leaks.
-
must say i have seen more leaks than worn blades
-
well its been about a week now and still no problems with the hose or anything else truck runs great thanks for all the info.....
-
Your welcome, glad to hear things worked out.....Tom

I've never seen worn blades, but I'm not at a shop either. I'm sure if one is wrenchin on a daily basis, all things are possible. Done front end and suspension work at a shop before, and we saw some duusies come through the door. Stuff completely beyond my comprehension and imagination.
-
ive seen some crazy stuff working at a body shop and working for people around town but like i said before this is my first 4wd truck ive ever owned and plan on keeping this one for a long time to come......
-
last photo of the motor im fighting with.....
-
is that a dodge seat in it ???. lol looks good but the gauges make it seam like it has a black eye ;)
-
Motor and the truck look good. Just takes some time to sort out. Once it's straight, it all be worth it!!!
-
yeah its dodge seats built on a custom frame that way they work the right way. I ordered a speed gauge but never got it yet its paid for im just waiting on it. This truck is well worth what i traded for, it was a minitruck that left for this one kind of think i came out ahead on this deal...
