Does anyone know where I can order a light socket for the interior roof light inside the cab? It has to be bad. I ran a new circut for the light through a dash mounted toggle switch but still no light. The old wires had been melted and shorted out in several places so i replaced all the wiring. Have power to roof. I tried mine. no luck. I took one out of my 78 parts truck and it would not work either.

Is the wire routed thru the door pins making a good ground?
I'm sure or truckandcarshop have the fixture though.

Parts story carry them in the help section can't remember the number but I know they are in there

No, I bypassed the door switches all together. Just wanted a simple on/off switch. I'll check some of the parts stores. I know Auto Zone said they could order the lense which kind of surprised me. That was before I found out that I had two bad light sockets....

Do you have an ohm meter to check those sockets with? Sockets don't usually go bad unless they are obviously charred or something... It's odd to have 2 bad sockets from 2 different trucks. Check and make sure the wires running to the socket are good. if they have ever been pulled on, the conductor could be broken inside and you'd never see it because the outer jacket would still look good.
the simplest way to check them would be to put a bulb in it and run it straight off the battery terminals to see if its good.

they have them n the floor i was thinking maybe one of thoes have the same bulb socket as the one you need

Don't have any in the floor? I think I might just do that with the battery 78 and see if the light comes on. I found it odd to get two bad lights from two different trucks also.
