I think I was on this site before it changed a while back but since I don't remember my name or password I made this. I just bought an '85 Chevy C10, longbed with a 350 built at a speed shop. It runs decent right now, would like a little more power but I'll figure that out.

One quick question though... would a longbed stepside bed bolt onto this truck? I almost want to put one on because I really like the longbed stepsides. It isn't a big deal though.

This was brought up recently on here. I think the answer is that yes it will bolt right up but they are really hard to find. Longbed stepsides just weren't that common. Your bumper is also a little longer than a stepside bumper, but it will work--just stick out a little on the sides. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Alright. I might not do it since like you said, the beds are really hard to find. But if I pull up the plastic bedliner to see that this bed is rusty and I find a stepside one, I might just go for it.

btw...welcome back to the site and solid lookin truck!

Hello from Illinois

Welcome. What part of Cali?
x2 on finding a long step side. Very hard. Ill keep my eye out on craigslist around my area. The other issue you will find is the fuel filler hoses. Its almost impossible to find them for sb step sides, so I would think it would be even harder for a LB. I had to cut one up and insert a steel pipe to get it to work.
Unless you have 20g tank(s) then you should be ok.

I'm in San Diego. I like the look of the longbed stepsides oddly enough. However I wonder how much bed space I'd lose from swapping it. I think I have a single 18 gallon tank in the truck now. Filler hose won't be a hard thing to obtain I don't think but I'm not sure. I basically want this truck to be more "fun" if I will keep it. For some reason I can't keep any of my daily drivers just stock.

I am with you, I love the step side look so much better. I think I might have seen one on craigslist here in my area. Let me contact them tomorrow and see if it is and is still available. Will let you know.....tom

i have been keeping my eye open for step side fuel filler hoses for a long time...nothing.
-
Is there anything particularly special about the fuel filler hoses? The auto parts store I work at sells fuel filler hose in many flavors. It is kinda expensive since it is sold by the inch but I get a discount.
-
It is the bend that is special, if you can match them up I would be interested in getting some info from you. I am going to start working on putting a step side bed on my 81 I got a couple of months ago and it has dual tanks, and the step side has a single tank. I have been looking for the hose with the right bend, just haven't took a lot of time and searched yet. Let me know if you find one that will work.....Tom
-
Me too...and for both left and right side. SB step side, 16g tanks.
-
I think most of the fuel hose we have like that is flex hose, it isn't a molded type. However I'll search at my store, maybe I can order the hose itself.
-
That will be great, thaks....Tom

Could you have an exhaust shop bend up some pipes and use the rubber hose from the parts store to couple it together?
