Nine years has past since that awful day, one of our great country's darkest hours. May the people lost never be forgotton. We have gone on with life, a different life than before that day. Please take a moment to remember those of us near, and far, with us or gone from our lives, children, elders, peers, military or civil servant. Every one makes a difference to someone.

Everybody knows where they were, what they were doing, and the exact time they found out what was happening. I was a freshman in High School and couldn't believe that something of that scale was actually happening at that very moment. No longer were they going to talk about Vietnam, Korean war, WWII and pearl harbor... it was going to be this war and these fallen towers. I was drawn to it. I felt that I was going to be part of history and was going to be the one telling stories to my grandkids someday. Not my gramps telling me about Korea and uncles telling me about 'NAM. Long story short. Joined up with a high school friend. Now lost but not forgotten. Been there, done that, seen it first hand. What will be the end results??? What's going to be said 20yrs from now??? It's been almost 10 and believe it or not WE have changed the middle east. I just still have that same feeling from that day. Whats going to happen?

They have some special programs here at the NASCAR race tonight in Richmond. I remember the 1st anniversay, 9/11/2002 I went to the Richmond race--it was a saturday night race. Back then everyone thought there'd be another attack and the 1st anniversary would be the time and the biggest crowd in the nation was.......the 110,000 people at the NASCAR race where I was. Now, on the 9th anniv, the race is on 9/11 again. I went to the track admin offices the other day for security preparations and they told me of their special programs on tap for tonight.
We will never forget. Just like Pearl Harbor--we don't forget. You still won't see me buy a Jap car. Call me old school. I don't care. I don't subscribe to burning the Quran, because only .0000001% of Muslims favor what happened on 9/11 so two wrongs don't make a right and it will just divide us more.
God Bless the families and friends of the victims. They need to hurry completion of the memorial in NYC.

Honor the fallen by remembering them.
And may us take every action to ensure this tragedy will not happen again. Live everyday as if it is your last my friends, love and let go of grudges and hate. Embody the good of what makes us human beings.
I was in 6th grade when this happened. Everyday we watched the news bright and early, and we also had to write down our 'schedule' of the day off the board. As I was writing it, all of these events unfolded. I kept that piece of paper that I wrote my schedule on. I plan on framing it later on.

Wow I was a freshman in HS too. It was like so surreal when it happened awful day.

Never forget. I was in 5th grade at the time and was just old enough to understand what was going on but not quite old enough to fully comprehend it. I was out at recess, all of a sudden it was cut short and people are freaking out and no one knew what was happening. Parents are pulling kids out of class early. My mother came and got me early we walked home and she showed me the news. I just sat in horror. I can still remember this day like it was yesterday.
I remember shortly after 9/11 there was a commercial that aired on TV. It showed a typical American street lined with Townhouses, the words appeared, "on September 11 they thought they would change America...(now the same street all houses proudly waving flags)...They did"

I was still in school and for some reason I was in the principals office I don’t think I was in trouble that day but I think I was fixing something but I over heard the secretaries talking about it and stopped what I was doing just to stare and was in shock when I saw what they were talking about on the news. I also remember how some went and treated all the Indians shops 7 11’s and all just cause of there race they were blamed for it.

I remember that one too. Very powerful.
Sadly, that feeling of unity of being Americans has once again faded.
