Title: tranny lines and cooler
Post by: Buddy on September 12, 2010, 06:02:30 pm
I am just putting my truck together after a complete tear down. I am running new lines for my tranny and I am just wanted to know. I have a tranny cooler in front of my rad. Should I run my lines to that or just to the side of my Rad. If I run them to my tranny cooler it is a little bit of a hack job they way they had it running. I already ran them to my rad so i was wondering how much of a diff it would make. I am running a 305 with a 700r tranny. Should i switch them to the tranny cooler or just leave what i have now and remove the cooler.

On mine, when it ran was running too hot so I had to use the cooler. Do you have a trans temp gauge?

You can always add the external cooler later if the radiator isnt cooling it enough. If you are towing, then just add it in now. Run the line to your radiator, then to the cooler, then back to the transmission. A temp gauge is a good thing, heat kills transmissions FAST.

You can get some nice AN fittings and lines to make it pretty.

Keep the radiator and add the external one to it.  You don't want to eliminate the radiator portion.

Always run the factory cooler. The auxiliary cooler is a good thing too. Look at the pic in this link

I under stand now great thanks. Does it matter which line does where as far as top to bottom. or does it even matter which line is on top?

Are they pre bent lines? If they are, it should matter.
