Title: New member, "new" truck.
Post by: WhatWouldSeanDo on September 16, 2010, 04:22:02 pm
Hello, I just joined this forum today, the same day I picked up this 'lil beauty. It's a '77 GMC stepside. It has a 327 out of an old vette and a 4 on the floor with a granny low. I imagine I'll swap out that tranny for something more streetable, but I have to get the tank dropped and drained and get her running first. It's a beater, but I have big plans for her. I hope to pick everyones brain here a bit as I progress.

Woohoo!! another 77 joins the mix! :) Welcome to the site. I've found this forum to be a very good place with some very knowledgeable people so you've come to the right place.

You guys have me feeling better about the granny low trans. Truth be told, I have never driven one and was basing my fears on the advice of the former owner of this truck.

I am DEFINITELY not an auto person. Far from it. Even if I eventually upgrade the engine, and need a more stout tranny, it will always be a stick.

I haven't even picked her up yet but I have spent the past week reading the back pages of this forum. I get her Tuesday (9/28), then I can begin the process.

Welcome from Mass. You will have a hard time finding a tranny more stout than a SM465.
