Title: Duel gas tank not workinh

I have an 87 GMC 4x4 with duel tanks.  The drivers side tank works but when I flip the switch to go to the other tank, the truck dies.  ANy suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Put gas in the empty tank.

Or the switch might be getting stuck between tanks.  Are you pressing it down for several seconds when you switch tanks?  If you are, the solenoid valve under the truck on the passenger side frame rail might be bad.

Is your 87 fuel injected? if it is chances are the fuel pump is out in that tank. If the selector valve is working the guage should change and read correctly for the tanks.
