Title: Jimmy/Sub sending unit differences?
Post by: Gearhead1 on September 20, 2010, 08:29:08 am
I'm trying to find a sending unit for a custom tank I'm making. My parts dealer says the 40 gal Burb unit is worth $300 LESS than the Jimmy's 25gal tank unit. Is there a different lengths? (Deeper tanks? I just assumed they were longer)

If you're making a custom tank why are you using a suburban or jimmy sender?

as opposed to an external pump set up?

I want to use it so the fuel level gauge works. I need to replace my crusty p/u unit and need an extra port for the vent. I'll add a separate port on top of the tank if I have to, but thats an extra step in the build. Trying to keep it simple

Then why not just use a Blazer tank and sender if you are trying to keep it simple?

I want a simple set up for my custom tank. Fabricating is the easy part...its what I do.
I didnt want a paper thin factory tank - going stainless

In that case just fabricate the float arm since that's the only difference. Is this for a tbi? You can get a new sender from rockauto pretty cheap
