Post by: rtanner on September 21, 2010, 07:25:33 am
hey guys, just bought, a 1987 swb 5.7 fi, motors wore out, question, are the exhaust manifolds unique to these heads, will they fit vortec heads? are is there a good aftermarket head that they fit, also i have hydraulic roller cammed, 5.7 short block i plan to stroke to 383, is there a gm cam i can upgrade to and it not mess with the map sensor, its very important to me to maintain good idle, and all around manners, any of you guys experienced w the 87s please chime in,

the 87 heads are not unique other than the TBI being on it and them being swirled intake tracts.
They exhaust manifolds will pretty much fit any aftermarket head.
A lot of people on F-body put LT1/LT4 cams in them BUT you will need a chip.
