I hit a deer on my Harley tonight and am out of commission for a while. Broken ribs, bikes banged up and I'm all busted up inside and out. I got percoset so I'm feelin a little better but this really sucks. I almost bit the dust
-
Glad to hear your OK compared to what the other option is!
-
Did the deer walk away ??? Glad to hear your ok but wana know if you got some chow out of the deal
-
Crap! Glad you're still around! Good luck with you're recovery!
-
Dang, i've hit a deer with an all-metal 65 mustang, but never with no protection around me. Kinda early for the deer to be jumping 'round a lot. I say they extend huntin season to get rid of all these extra deer---they bring Lyme disease too w/ their pesky little deer ticks.
anyway, hang in there and don't laugh at any jokes anytime soon. Bikes can be fixed or replaced, your body can't. Glad you dropped us a line.
Now, due to the percocet, if you say a miss in the engine is due to a flat right rear tire, we'll understand. ;D (sorry-i hope you didn't laugh).
-
WOW! Glad you are OK. Sucks about your bike, but that is repairable/replaceable.
-
Man, you are very lucky to live to tell about it. I hope you mend up well and fast. If you start having really squirrely dreams and nightmares, it's the percocet. I had that experience after having shoulder replacement surgery. They had to give me something else for pain. I got to where I dreaded going to sleep.
PS - if you need someone to come up there and drive those goodlooking trucks around for you, I volunteer.
Best wishes.
-
Glad to hear you're okay, Vile
-
Thanks all. I'm hurtin pretty bad but I will get better. My family came by and brought me food and stuff.
-
I thank God you're still with us Vile. This has been a rough year for you. I'll be thinkin about you often.
-
Thanks Don!
-
Glad to hear your O.K.
Getting stabbed a while back and now almost taken out by a dear.
Make sure you save a few of those 9 lives for when you get older.
-
Percs made me yak! Thats what they gave me when I shot myself with the nail gun. Went with out just used over the counter pain meds.
-
Feel your pain val, been riding bikes since I was 4, and crashing is no fun at all. Glad to hear you are alive and can still get around. God bless and don't rush your recovery, broken ribs are not to be messed around with. Keep us informed on how your progress goes ok......
-
Yeah. I rode through parts of Arkansas on my bike worrying about deer. That northern deer ain't anything to mess with. I did have an accident in Houston (non deer related although a lot of the police cars have cattle guards. . . .) that resulted in me getting a metal plate in my arm to hold my elbow together. All they gave me was vicodin, so you must be in a world of hurt. Get better, and keep the rubber side down.
-
Goin to see the doctor tomorrow (of course they couldn't get me in today) I need something stronger than percoset. I can barely move and EVERYTHING hurts today. I slept at my desk cuz it hurts to lay down. It hurts to sit up, hurts to stand... This sucks!
-
Happy thoughts, Vile, happy thoughts. Get better soon.
-
I saw this on FB last night. Glad you are alive.
-
thx me too
-
Sorry to hear of your crash. Glad you're not hurt worse, heal up soon, buddy
-
Best wishes. Could be time to plan your next three or four projects.
-
Get well soon man. That totally sucks.
-
Thanks all. I went to work last night as I've been working from home and that sucked. I'm hoping by Monday I can be back in the normal swing of things without too much disruption. I called the insurance company today and reported the claim on my bike so we'll see what happens when the calim rep calls me back.
-
It's not too late to get a deer license and go get yourself some sweet vengeance ;D
Think you'll be able to save the bike?
-
Yeah, I estimate about $5,000 in damage. We'll have to see what the insurance company says. Luckily I can fix everything myself and maybe do some nice new updates while I'm at it.

Updates? Like a cow-catcher! (deer-catcher in this case)
Glad you're still alive, btw.

It's going to be nice when it's done.

Beautiful paint. Really is. But I don't know if I'd put the Grim Reaper on a bike I was going to ride. Skulls yes. Grim Reaper, probably not. Seems like it's tempting fate to me. Like some kind of bad luck thing. Anyway, 1st class paint for sure. Beautiful color choices.
-
I can hardly put a sentence together. AMAZING
-
You win for sure this time.
-
That's amazing! Someone's very talented!
-
Thats bad! you need a matching truck!

I love it! As far as tempting fate and bad luck _ I don't believe in any hocus pocus but I do believe in being different and expressing your artwork. This design was actually a tattoo I had drawn up years ago and decided to resurrect it on to my bike. Once I put it in the hands of a real artist he put his rendering on it. I can't wait to put my bike back together and ride it. It's awesome!
-
It really is cool looking.
-
Thanks! I have a few more pix I can post and will show you all some pix of the bike when it's all back together. I just got a bunch of stuff done on the 74 tonight too. Not bad for getting home at 8:00 ;)
-
sweeeeeet paint job, Vile! That is awesome! Quite some creative talent both in designing and painting that design. That will be cool. Paint your helmet to match and get a leather jacket design that displays that on the back as well. cool.

Helment? Whats that?

Helment? Whats that?
I don't know, what is a "Helment"
Sweeeet looking bike Vile. But, I'm curious, do you have any pics of it after the accident? Wanna see how far its come along, if your comfortable posting them.
-
I didn't really take pics of the damage. I can take a pic of busted up parts lol
-
Really good looking bike.
-
Pretty cool the way you carried the theme down to the primary cover Vile! Awesome job!
