Recently bought a 81 4x4 truck. When turning to the left almost as if there is no power steering, to the right is normal. Upon inspection I found the coupler from the column to the steering box to be messed up. My question is if I replace the coupler should my problems be fixed or did a bad steering box cause the coupler issue. Also, there was recently a new power steering pump put on the truck, but there is a fluid leak somewhere (just got the truck Saturday and have not investigated thoroughly but appears to not be a line.)

Explain what is messed up? Are you talking about the rag joint? Does it feel the same in both directions with the engine not running?
