i don't really go mountain biking per se. However, i do commute daily with a mountain bike--del sol forgot which model 21 spd. i don't go off road intentionally. But it looks like a lot of fun.
P.S. GMC "makes" a mountain bike called TopKick:

I wonder what kind of MPG that Topkick gets. I guess it depends if it powered by a big block or small block.
I like Cannondales myself. I rode West Virginia's 84 miles Greenbrier river rail trail with one. It wasn't mine, but I loved it. So light and will fly. I tend to stay on established rail trails, like the Virginia Creeper trail, named after the old train of the 1800's that used to go up and down the Virginia Highlands in Southwest Va. I've done the W&OD trail as well (Washington and Old Dominion Rail Road) in northern Virginia. We tend to have lots of former railroads converted to biking trails for the tourism dollars. I have hiked the C&O (Chesapeake and Ohio) canal towpath from the old towpath of the canal boats from the 1700's from Georgetown Washington D.C. to Cumberland, MD.

I've been getting into mountain biking pretty heavily now, but am thinking about doing the Tour De Kota this next year. Last year it was a little over 400 miles, in just over a week. We'll so how good of shape i'm in come spring time!

That's about 60 +/- miles per day...definately doable, depending on the trail types and conditions and grade. If there isn't much grade changes, and not many carrying bike over trees and creeks or whatever, I would say 80-90 miles/day is within reason for the average semi-competitive cyclist.

I wouldn't speak too soon. There is a reason they don't put the prices on the site. Hmmmm, with the GMC name and a good mt bike.....I'll bet they are about a grand and a half.

I'm still closer to $1,500 than to $50k+ ;D

Exactly.
Actually, i think the topkick retails for around $350-400.
2) Tell me about tubes; i'm using kenda and had it go flat last week which i patched with an auto patch kit. i don't care about performance and weight---i just need something that won't go flat because i commute. What about the slime stuff?
i may have ridden it low and it got pinched.
