Title: changing out a 208 for a 205, what has to change

87 v20 pickup, 10 bolt front 14 bolt sf rear, turbo 400 trans.

what needs to be changed, and what specific 205 to look for?

The 205 off a 400 will have the same spline count

same crossmember as a 208? drive shaft lengths?

I'm sure the member is the same think they are transmission specific. But the front shaft should be the same rear should be smaller with the 205 since its a little bigger also male sure they both are fixed yokes or slip yokes for the rear I'm sure they both are 32 spline rear outputs also

Although the crossmember bolts to the tranny and not the transfer case I think they are different on the 205 and the 208.
All of the 205's I've run across had a crossmember that was flat and shared the same 2 piece tranny mount as the 203.
All of the 208's I've seen have a bend in them and use a 1 piece tranny mount.

pics would be great. as well as pics of the adapter and specs on the correct input shaft to connect to my t400 hd 4wd trans
