Title: new seats..
Post by: lpapa15 on October 02, 2010, 02:15:40 am
What types and from what vehicle should I get a new seat from for my Chevy 79 4x4?  Has anyone seen the back bench seat of a 91 suburben mounted in a truck like mine before?

I would also like to know. Ive seen 2002 Silverado seats but it requires a lot of floor pan modification. I've also seen 1998 dodge ram seats, but don't know how much they modified the floor.

got mine out of a '90 WT. good way to color match if you need to. they can be found in blue, red, gray, tan, and black that I know of and are really easy to install.

so the 88-98 style trucks work fine? do they just bolt to 73-87 tracks? I know the w/t is the work truck model and since it's 90 the body style is like my 88 and goes thru to 98.

The back did just bolt on and the front needed 2 holes drilled on the bottom of the seat.

I explained w/t in my post it's work truck or base model and trim level in 88-98 trucks.

drilling holes is pretty easy as far as a swap goes, good to keep in mind. Never know when you might need another seat or find a good deal on one.

WT was Work Truck (base model)

1991 Suburban used the same bench seat as a the 1982-1991 Rear Crew Cab Bench, non tilting.  So it will bolt right in.

Hate to dig up an old thread but I'm looking at snatching the seats out of a '00 for the '86 I'm doing for my father and was wondering if any extra drilling was required to bolt in being as it is a 2/3 peice seat compared to the basic bench seat, I just know those seats are 10x more comfortable on the ride being as my 07 classic has basically the same seats.

I just built new seat bracket and installed a set of 2008 HHR buckets(with factory sliders) in my truck........just need to complete the center console/seat. Sky is the limit....unless you are over 6' and then you need to look for a seat with low draw.
