Title: 77 Cheyenne Stepside from Idaho
Post by: ravinwolf on October 02, 2010, 02:53:49 am
Hello everyone!!  I'm here to start refreshing my truck and I know this is the best place to start.  I just put in a new highly modified 454 and th400 in my truck, the 69 427 that was in it had a collapsed piston and was to far gone for me to fix.  I am a disabled Iraqi Vet with nothing better to do but fix up my truck and cars.  So to start here is some pics of my truck, let me know what you think and what you think needs attention!  Thanks Wade

Ravin,

Well this is about all I know on the 454.  It's a 1989 4 bolt main block bored .20 over, 2500$ Scat crank, SRP pistons, custom ground comp cams camshaft, Pro Comp Heads, Full roller lifters, Elderbrock Big Air Gap intake, Holley 750 carb, CSI distributor. I think the compression is about 13.76 just so I can still use premuim fuel.  Next week we are putting on a MSD ignition system and exhaust temp sensors.  I think its a bit much for a 1/2 ton truck but he said the truck will handle it.  He is also wanting me to put 4.10 gears in it.  He said I have no gears with 35" tires and 3.73 gears right now.  I told him him plenty fast for me.  The engine is supposed to be a high torque low rpm motor.  He figured about 500 horse and around 700lbs of torque.

Welcome from California, and I got to say that is how one of these days I want my 74 step side to look.  It looks awesome, and by no means any less important, thank you for your service to our great nation and for your sacrifice.

I put the flags on the truck cause my platoon is heading back to Iraq and since I can't go I wanted to show my support for them and I know their mission will not be a easy one! God Speed 116th Colt Platoon!!!!!
