Title: wiil gears out of a '03 truck fit my '86

I had someone give me some low mileage take outs of an '03 silverado 2wd.....will they fit in my '86 c10. My truck is a 305/350 combo w/ a 2.73 rear. It should be a 8.5 10 bolt right? will they interchange?

from what I know, it "should" work, but I cannot say for 100%

After some reading, it seems that the gear is actually a 8.625" ring gear. Will that still fit in the 8.5 housing???

I know the ones for a 03 is a 8.6 gear. It SHOULD work but I'm not 100% I had to replace the gov loc in my 03 yukon last year and they list 2 diff bearings one for 8.6 one for 8.5

checked with someone this afternoon, no it won't fit.
