This is hard to explain, but I know it must be a common issue...
On the passenger side door, one wire has come off the metal tang that goes into the "black" harness that closes up into which the switch pushes into. I could not get the old metal tang to open up to sodder the wire back into it. Im not sure what to do, right now (door panels off) I have to touch the wire to the metal tang inside the black harness box to make the window go down....any suggestions on what to do to fix this..?

Are you talking about the connector for the power window switch?
-
yeah...the wire goes into the "connector"....I have the connector but have had no luck Opening it up and crimping/soddering it to the wire...

buy a new connector or go to the junk yard, grab a few spare connectors or a few extra wires. or just keep touching the wires to the black connector to operate the window... few choices.

The metal terminal connectors can be bought new--pretty cheap. I don't remember where I saw them, but they're out there. Or as mentioned you could go to a junkyard and pull the whole switch connector as a pigtail. I had a hard time finding any that had not already been cut off--apparently a hot item. Finally found a driver's side from a truck that was a little difficult to get into because of door damage, but couldn't find a passenger one. I finally decided to look at some different gm vehicles and found one in an old Vandura van that was the same.

Just get a new power window pigtail. If you use the search function you will see I posted a link to the very same connector a while back.

Here I did it for you

I would have bought that one, but I wasn't 100% sure if it was the right one. I called the dealer and they gave me the part number, but said it was discontinued and also told me that acdelco wouldn't have it if his computer showed it discontinued. I should have checked into it more but went the junkyard route. Sorry, I didn't keep the gm part#'s.
