Hey just wanted to know why everyone seems to hate the sunvisors on these trucks? everytime I read a post about these everyone hates them? just wanted to know why?
-
They remind me of a time before I could drive. :)
-
Do you mean the actual sun visor or the cheesy baseball hat looking thing that ruins the whole look of the cab? I personally hate them because I think they are ugly. Lund made millions making our trucks look bad and inventing useless accessories. People love to accessorise their vehicles with junk for some reason. Not everyone here hates them but I do.
-
It's just different tastes. I don't hate visors, but don't really like them either. now what I can't stand on a truck newer than say 1959 is a white wall tire or fender skirts. ick. though some love em and some hate white lettered tires, which i must have on a truck.
like this. all this one needs is a visor... :D

That is one pimp truck! For some reason it makes me think of a funeral home. Maybe it's the Caddie wheel covers with the centers knocked out.
-
That truck has ram air tail lights.
Lund visors CAN limit your vision, leak water, contribute to roof rust, make a noisy whistle or rattle, and add extra weight for the sake of aesthetics.

Get back in the Delorean vile

LOL @three8six (I needed that)
-
I don't hate them I like them.
Adding weight? come on how much does one weigh? maybe 5 lbs if that or 10 at best, gimme a break.
cause leaks, no, self tapping bolts and use rtv, had em on for years never a problem, even had them on, then off for paint and back on, no leaks.
rattles and wind noise, nope never had it once. I got more wind noise on my 88 without a visor, no joke. I got no rattles or noises from it. I got no leaks, it might help rust I could see that, reason dirt getting trapped under it, as for the part that actually touches the cab might as well just rtv it and that'll stop water and dirt from getting in the area that can't be cleaned or got out of. It be the exact same as fender flares or chrome trim around the wheel lip, nothing more. Only way I see one ever limit vision if if you are looking up, like maybe a redlight that you pulled up to far on. We have tons of red lights and signs here and if you stop where the lines are for the lights, no problem seeing them at all. I can barely see the one on my 88 looking up but dad's 84 you can see but it doesn't get in the way of anything especially driving or visibility. I mean if you want to watch air planes or birds whle you're in the truck yea that might effect your vision, but come on are you driving or bird watching?
I know it's personal opinions but ppl come up with such wild and outrageous storys on why visors are bad or suck. I've heard many times the wind noise, it's never happened to me. We've had a 79 ford truck, 92s10, 86k10, 84c10, 88k1500, most of which were driven before and after the visor was put on and no difference in wind noise or other noises.
I don't like white walls, but white letters I do, visors I do, chrome I do, and lund stuff like stick on hood scoops, and the cab fairings yes. I like the cab fairing on the truck pictured but fender skirts on anything I hate.
I defend the things all the time, most ppl online I see hate them, but you come to my area and almost everybody has one, well maybe not that many but about half the trucks around here, that anyone actually likes having or does stuff to them to fix them up has a visor, the other half don't, but they have some sort of add on. I see stick on hood scoops on everything, cab fairings on several trucks new and old, mostly new ones now, and visors on everything new and old.
For me I always liked them without one a truck looks naked to me, my wife said she likes em without a visor but not me. My old man loves visors too, guess it's why I do, I grew up with them. I'm only 26 and I'd put one on any truck i ever owned.

come on are you driving or bird watching?
lol. Waiting for the mothership to come back for me ;D
-
LOL I hear ya!!!!
No joke, my 86 camaro was silver and had rear window louvers, and from the back it looked like back to the future all over again!!!
-
That truck has ram air tail lights.
It's to cool off the tail light bulbs during heavy breaking.
-
you can't heavy break something that ugly it won't go fast enough, that's a pawpaw's truck LOL. grandpa would drive it around on sunday LOL. it's probably to vent horn waves from all the honking ppl are gonna do driving behind it, whether it be for it being slow or fugly who knows lol.
-
Theres a red 85-ish LWB c10 around here with the fender skirts... looks like it came new otherwise. it's always in the Ford dealer parking lot, guess he works there.
-
I hate cab / racer backs, I hate rear wings, I definitely hate fender skirts on trucks. I like the look of some trucks without visors, just as I like the look of some with them. I think I lean more toward with them than without. Mine don't make wind noise, they don't limit sight, they don't leak. I rivet mine on as the little nubby things they give you to cover the screws look like heck!
There is an 85 ish short bed K10 with a plow around here that has fender skirts. Nothing else, just skirts. I want to go kick them off every time I see it!
-
Maybe we should all get skirts... it looks like it may even help gas mileage. hmm we just have to work out how to put some on the front too.. ;D
-
I'm not wearing any skirts! Maybe a kilt....
