I have a lifted 86 jimmy that I recently cracked the trans case on and was trying to figure out what year motor (and trans)is actually in it. I was thinking they didn't start that till 89?

TBI came out in 87 for our trucks.

TBI was started in 1987, but some 87's registered as 86's had them.
Up to 92/93 the engines were the same.
