Hi, My truck initially came with air conditioning but no longer has any of the components. I just rigged the blower motor to run on high at all times via a relay. Now I'm wondering since the truck no longer has a vacuum canister, is it possible to just run the vacuum line to the manifold to get it to change between defrost, heat etc.?

im having the same problem with my truck where on the manifold can i hook a line to its a 305 v8 if that helps thanks..

I removed the vaccum ball when I did the 5.3 swap... I have the one line comming from the firewall going strait into the manifold. works fine unless you floor it ... well then you no longer have vaccum ... other than that, works great.

Ok thanks for the good news. Also just out of curiousity, why even have the vacuum canister? Is it just there to ensure that you have vacuum for the controls even at wide open throttle? I know personally I'm usually not adjusting my heating situation while gettin' on it.

I've got a 160tstat and a electric fan that runs all the time and I don't think I could stand to keep my heat on full blast it still cooks me I believe I can deal with it cutting out at wot lol

If you have a stock motor or mildly built motor it will work, but if you have something built up with a big cam you may not have enough vacuum. I had to put in a vacuum canister :(
